We've been covering the Cannes Film Festival on
JoBlo.com since 2004, and this year is no different, only unlike
last year, it appears as though both the Arrow (aka John Fallon)
and myself will be able to attend this time around, so starting next
Monday, we shall be in the South of France, looking and searching
for whatever cool movies we can find (and other cool stuff as well,
of course). The festival officially runs from May 14-25,
features Sean Penn as the head of the jury, and cool folk
like Natalie Portman and director Alfonso Cuaron as
jury members and will feature such films as (amongst others, of
course):

As per usual, the Arrow will also be attempting
to see as many market films as he can, while we will both be
attempting to meet Natalie Portman and for me, my ultimate goal is
to take a picture in the vicinity of either Steven Spielberg
or Woody Allen, at which point, my life will be given meaning again
(remember when THIS
happened a few years ago?).

as many producers, directors, distributors will also be flocking to
Cannes for the annual moving-and-shaking that is the buying
marketplace, we'd also love to catch any other films that will be
showing outside of the Festival, so if you're interested in our two

beforehand that we see your film and publish our views on the site

WANT
TO HOOK UP FOR DRINKS?
If
you're a fan of the site, a producer/writer/actor, hot chick or even
a dude with a backpack
looking to hang and drink wine (I'm talking to you, Depp!), drop us
a line and let's try and hook up for a sit-down. We'll be crashing
in the actual city of Cannes again this year, so we can drink and
not have to take the train back to our hotel
in another town before midnight. Like Blondie once said: call me.
WANT
TO INVITE JOBLO.COM TO A PARTY?
Once
more, this is my subtle attempt to develop some semblance of a
"night-life" while in Cannes, as opposed to just watching
movies all day long, drinking in between, going back to our apartment
to type all night long and then crash (it's a living, but c'mon...I
need a life too!). I actually
speak French, so at least I've got that going for me, but
hob-knobbing with strangers is not my "forte", so drop me
a line if you've got a neat "coke & hooker" party
going on, or better yet, a "hooker and coke" party. Either
one works for us!
Anyway,
wish us luck, folks! Coverage should start late next week and I hope
that I can get you guys as many cool reviews as possible. We'll also
be taking as many slick pictures as possible, and maybe even some
cool video here and there...
