Strike Back below!
by: Omar Aviles May. 20, 2008

The folks at "Row Three" have nabbed themselves a first look at Viggo Mortensen in director John Hillcoat's upcoming THE ROAD, an adaptation of the bestselling Cormac McCarthy novel of the same name. In it, Mortensen and his son make their way through a post-apocalyptic USA while trying to avoid cannibals and survive the bitter cold wasteland. Not the most complex plot but the novel packs a considerable dramatic punch. Plus, that is one mighty fine beard. Guy Pearce and Charlize Theron co-star. Click HERE or on Mortensen's rockin' beard to see it all large and stuff. The film's scheduled for release November 26th.

Extra Tidbit: Hillcoat is the director of THE PROPOSITION.

This can't lose.
I'm convinced. And here's why:

-Almost everyone attached to The Road was attached to the best Western since Unforgiven (hint: it wasn't 3:10 To Yuma)

-And of course...Viggo.

I swear to all of you I haven't felt this jacked about a drama (and convinced it was gonna be a success) since The Departed (2006, 9/10).

Can't wait
DB Cooper, just checked IMDB, Nick Cave and Warren Ellis (of the Dirty Three) are scoring the film. They did an amazing job on Assassination of Jesse James AND The Proposition, so am officially pumped for this one.

I am excited for this seeing as how i am currently on a Cormac McCarthy kick....No Country for Old Men was a great movie so i have high hopes for this one(even though the Coen's are not involved) and also who can rock a beard like Viggo Mortensen

The Proposition was great, and IMHO one of the most underrated movies of the last few years. I have high hopes for this one.

While my interest is piqued by another Cormac McCarthy adaptation, I'm worried that noone could do him justice like the Coens. I liked how the Coens directly adapted the book to the screen. I wonder if this director will do the same?

Looks good
I saw Viggo at a reading/performance in Portland, OR on Friday night. He looked very famished and grizzly. Good book, good actor, good director, should be good a good movie.

hmm
there wasn't much dialouge in the book. I wonder how will that translate onto film. perhaps, a more minimal approach to filmmaking?

Can't Wait
Really looking forward to this. The Road was one of my favourite books of recent times. Heres hoping Nick Cave gets on board again with John Hillcoat and scores the movie.

One of my most anticipated films of the year
I can't wait for this. Viggo just looks the part! Another classic McCarthy adaptation on the way then?
