For reasons we're not exactly sure, Lionsgate is moving ahead with a third HOSTEL movie without the participation of Eli Roth. Now don't get me wrong - I don't think a HOSTEL 3 would be a good idea with Eli Roth but without him, it's an awful idea; a direct-to-DVD mess. Bloody Disgusting is reporting that talks are underway to get a third installment of HOSTEL going despite Roth saying on his MySpace blog to say, "no, I [am] kind of bled out at the moment. Having gone back to back to back with 3 very violent films and a very violent trailer, I suddenly [find] myself thinking of new ideas." That idea is a PG-13, action/sci-fi movie that has yet to be announced (and presumably wouldn't be the much-hyped adaptation of Stephen King's "Cell"). Personally I always felt this movie, whatever it is, should've been Roth's follow-up to HOSTEL instead of a needless sequel. An announcement on Roth's latest project is expected soon and we'll have to wait and see exactly what Lionsgate is cooking up for HOSTEL 3. Maybe instead of boys and then girls, you could do old people in this one. There's some shock value for ya.

Extra Tidbit: Whatever happened to Roth's proposed TRAILER TRASH movie made up entirely of fake trailers?

Stupid. Agreed with Sampson on the no HOSTEL 2 thing, what the hell happened to CELL? The book was mediocre but it might have transitioned well to the screen in Roth's hands.

Actually, Eli Roth is one of the unsung heroes of horror. What sets him apart from the rest of the "splat pack" is his ability to craft creative stories that are more than gore shows... they're fun, and pretty funny. I don't know if any of you remember watching VHS tapes at 2 AM when your mom went to bed of old horror movies just so you could see that severed leg and laugh at those jokes you wo...

Plus, he as a personality is fuckin' great too. So eccentric and hilarious. This guy is going to be around for a while. But, your bandwagon probably won't be.

ELI ROTH IS THE ANTI-CHRIST OF HORROR
Seriously. This guy is a hack. The only good thing he did was "Thanksgiving" and that's not really saying much since it was just a faux trailer. Fuck his stupid ass Hostel movies and Hostel in general. SAW will always be the greatest horror franchise in recent horror.

I hope this thing doesn't hit theaters. The torture genre is dead.

"Needs new Direction"
"The hostel movies were a good idea, and they did have there appeal for a while, but there are so many people making films like these so much better!! if hostel 3 is to be made it really needs a fresh story and the final story which maybe busts open the orginisation behind it all, and there needs to be buckets of gross out gore and violence! thats what these films are about and thats there app...

Ugh
I was a big fan of the first one. I thought it was a cool idea and executed very well. The second one was pretty "meh" for me. Too much gore, not enough story. The first one set it up better. A third, especially without Eli Roth, will suck major elephant balls. All set thanks.

I never bothered with "Hostel", but personally, while I know some people were anticipating his "Trailer Trash" movie, I thought it sounded like maybe not the best idea for a feature film.

I am curious though what a director of Hard-R material has in mind for a PG-13 sci-fi movie.

I am so over these sort of movies. Don't get me wrong, I've been a fan of the carnage candy, but I really miss the old suspense. Nothing scares anyone anymore, what would be wrong with going back to the basics? Or hell, coming up with something new?
