We have a real treat for you today: the lesser-seen positive-Brett-Ratner-related-movie-news. Turns out, those rumors that his BEVERLY HILLS COP 4 would be going PG-13 are probably false. When LatinoReview spoke to him recently he had the following to say:

"Dont believe everything you read on the internet. Believe me, this is going to be a hard core 'R' Beverly Hills Cop. I start shooting next year"

I'm not gonna go so far as to expect a 'hardcore' movie outta this guy, but I will now at least hope that it isn't some nerfed studio movie where Eddie Murphy runs around calling the bad guys "jerks" or whatever people do in PG-13 movies. Murphy was pretty much born to curse people out. Just like Achilles was born to end lives, and I was born to be wild.

Extra Tidbit: I can't be the only one who is physically hurt when Murphy makes shit like NORBIT, because I remember the time I used to worship him, can I?

Last good r rated movie he did was Life. It's like as soon as he did Raw and put out vampire in brooklyn and BHC III, he wanted to do family stuff. I remember Delirious and Raw and BHC I and II and stuff like that. i don't think that eddie can do it anymore. that's just me though

I really don't care what the rating is...the mere fact that Ratner is even involved in a directorial position is enough for me to believe that this will most likely suck pretty bad...Ratner,by his own admission,is only a filmmaker so he can meet women...he really doesn't care about making quality films...

Could be good
I think this movie being bad or good will depend on Eddie Murphy's performance more than what Ratner can come up with. Murphy was definitely the main entertainment in 1 & 2. 3 just felt like no one was on the right page.

Ratner picks up red dragon, and it's the weakest of the Hannibal trilogy. Ratner picks up X-men 3, and it's the weakest of the x-men trilogy. Ratner picks up BHC 4, well, i'm sure you see the pattern.
As blsnychapter said, the "part 4's" haven't been great; and i think i'll take my chances with the new terminator over this.

I have high hopes for this movie. I really hope it's great. I understand that being around for 25 years or more in the business and then having a family, etc might change your perspective a little bit but still, one shouldn't forget where they came from and neglect their roots. I really miss the raw, hardcore Eddie Murphy, back when he was actually funny.

"This could be an awesome action movie" if its done properly!! and boy does murphy need to make a decent film! should be done in the style of badboys! but they must keep the cool classic theme tune! and please god dont let the entire cast be played by murphy in different make-up, weve had enough of that!!

I think they both have to and want to prove themselves, and this type of material is familiar enough to the both of them that I think they can actually make it work.

It is pretty much an R rated Rush Hour with one lead for Ratner and a return to form for Murphy; it cant be that hard for them both to make it work, can it?

I really hope they bring back Rosewood & Taggert. That would make the movie. The 4th part in the last couple of movies that came out weren't that good. Indiana Jones 4 wasn't that good and neither was live free or die hard (they cut McClanes nuts off) I guess will have to see whats happens with it.

beverly hills cop 4 would be great if Rosewood, Taggert, and the old guy from Robocop joined up again with murphy's vulgarity. But it will probably be eddie murphy and jackie chan and be some sort of Ratner piece of shit.
