Strike Back below!
by: Daniel Barna Oct. 1, 2008

Jack Black's career is on fire. With his surprise hit KUNG FU PANDA (an older professional was watching it next to me on a plane recently, cute) and his surefire blockbuster TROPIC THUNDER, it's safe to say that studios must have a lot of confidence in our portly little friend.

In an "if it ain't broke don't fix it" spirit, Mr. Black has decided to re-team with Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger, the writing team behind KUNG-FU PANDA. This time around, the film will be a live action parody of the Bourne films, in which Jack will play an American who finds himself washed up on the shores of Cuba with complete and utter amnesia. He comes to the conclusion that he must be a superspy, which is exactly what he is not. Hilarity no doubt, ensues. A director or release date are yet to be announced.

I'm trying to think of a movie where I've been disappointed by Jack Black and I can't think of one. I'll watch anything he makes.

I love Jack black but that synopsis reminds me of a cedric the entertainer flick with almost the same premise.

I'm in! Love Jack Black, and this plot has possibilities! Yes! Hand it over.

And HoyleHaw, thank you for the reference to the ORIGINAL "The In-Laws"! I never hear anybody mention it... and it's a great movie! Thanks for letting me know I have not been simply imagining this kick-a$$ movie all this time.

If this thing's good, then it wouldn't be the first time something seemingly unoriginal turns out to be pretty darn funny. If.

But it is Jack Black we're talking about, and somehow I'm imagining something along the lines of the original "In-Laws" movie, or "The Man Who Knew Too Little".

So, fingers crossed.

If you were Jack Black, you would be the man. So maybe you should start stuffing your face?

If it were anyone else, this parody would be something I steered clear of... but its fucking JB. He's hilarious

If you don't curb your writing habits, you too will be Dane Cook.
I think this has potential to be very funny, because JB is creatively funny, whereas Cedric the Entertainer is predictably mediocre. And don't get me started on Rob Schneider...

Wasn't there an abysmal Cedric the Entertainer vehicle last year called Code Name: The Cleaner that had a similar plot (minus Cuba)?

As dumb as it sounds, what I imagined while reading that premisse seemed really funny. Guess we'll have to wait and see.
