Lexi gets Hex?

While director Lexi Alexander anxiously awaits the audience/box office response to this week's PUNISHER: WAR ZONE (after surviving whatever turmoil occurred behind the scenes), she's giving consideration to her next project.

Could she be slipping into the recently vacated director's chair for Warner Bros.' adaptation of the DC Comic JONAH HEX? Alexander tells Latino Review that she's certainly digging the possibility: "I like it even more that Mr. Josh Brolin is still attached. Who knows if he'll stay, but it's more exciting than I thought. You get a story like this you think, 'Oh God, I'm going to be doing the same thing over and over again.' but it's really, really interesting."

On the other hand, she admits there are changes she would make to the existing script (by CRANK guys Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor), and that other directors are in the running for the flick, which follows an Old West bounty hunter with a notorious reputation and a horrifically scarred mug.

Extra Tidbit: Alexander's first film JOHNNY FLYNTON was nominated for a "Best Short Film" Academy Award.

Punisher Sucked!
Wasn't Lexi's fault totally, but this doesn't bode well for any MAJOR future projects soon. I can't say I was disappointed by Punisher because anyone who expected to be blown away by it just doesn't have a clue.

As far as Hex - it's not getting made with Brolin PERIOD

There is almost no chance this movie will be a straight to DVD flick with a guy like Brolin attached. Well okay, It did happen with "Cleaner" but not sure exactly why.

As for the bit of news, I'll wait and see how Punisher is before deciding if this is good news or not.

Enough about Hex!
I've been a comic book/Hex fan since the 70's and there are so many better heros to bring to the big screen. Like I said, I'm a fan of the Hex comics, but he's a bit obscure for mainstrean audiences. I can't see any major studio doing a wide theatre release of such a film. Most people that go to the comic movies now have no idea who Hex is! How about some BIG names like Flash, Green Lantern...

Oh and Brolin won't touch this unless Lexi and Punisher make $100 million!

No matter what - I'm rooting for Lexi too. I just hope she gets a good next project. I have a feeling that Hex would go right to DVD.

If Punisher War Zone is half as good as they claim on chud, wow, she can sure handle Hex too!

im really hoping punisher does do well..tanks or not, at least she is keeping to the source as much as she can. the punisher is a really dark character in a really dark comic and its gonna be challenging putting him on the big screen the right way...but tank or not, i hope she gets to do Hex.. she's alright by me

I have to admit that I haven't been too impressed with what I've seen of the new Punisher film, but I'll reserve judgement until this weekend on how I feel about this news. Green Street Hooligans was pretty awesome though, so here's hoping that Lexi nabs a good followup project even if Punisher tanks.
