I know that a lot of you spend day and night speculating as to the core content of Ridley Scott's proposed MONOPOLY movie. Thankfully, producer Brian Goldner (also, CEO of Hasbro) and Scott have cleared a couple of things up for us:

“He’s built these great big worlds of imagination... Combine that with Pamela Pettler who’s writing this great script about real people kind of playing a real-life game of ‘Monopoly,’ not the board game, although they’re icons of the game. And then you really get the idea why this story could make sense right now.”

Scott added:

“I have to direct it... We’re in progress right now. We’re having it written. We have identified a pretty good story and it is fundamentally a movie, not a game, probably describing in a way the characters in the film, the passion of the game, and how the game came about.”

I do think still that this is a stupid idea, but it could go well. Imagine a movie about a late-night game of Monopoly played by a couple of co-eds on the cusp of their sexual maturity. You could have I don't know, off the top of my head, Megan Fox, Scarlett Johansson and Amber Heard playing the chicks, and gee I don't know, me, playing the dude. I'm not saying it would be the best movie ever made, but I'm pretty sure I would have a good time.

Extra Tidbit: Scott: "I think Russell did brilliantly in A Good Year. He and I loved that film and Fox loved it and then they didn't know what to do and we got beaten up. Russell got beaten up mercilessly, which I thought was disgraceful because I genuinely thought we had done a good movie about a man in transition which is also quite funny. And what's really irritating and annoying is that I kept getting told later by actors, journalists, people outside of the industry, how much they enjoyed it. So anyway, fuck 'em. It was a good film."

Do it! we need something different-lots of new and different projects I'd hope in the pipeline.

Sam Jackson?
Betcha he signed a very lucrative deal to star in some kind of spin-off down the line. I can totally see him starring in "Trivial Pursuit - The Movie". He already cameod in the board game as every motherfucking answer to every motherfucking question regarding movies, anyway.

Everytime I try to figure out how this is going to be a movie, it makes me feel like my head is going to explode.

I mean, at least a movie about the Ouija Board has the ease that it could be about any ghost related story. Oh, and the twist ending could be that one of the kids was moving it with his hands the whole time.

"How the game came about"
Is it me or does this sound like a period piece, post-Depression Era where they'll try being topical and allegorical about our age and the sub-prime crisis by casting Russel Crowe as a real-estate agent pitted against his former lover, like Atlas Shrugged meets Trading Places?

Oh, and sorry Ridley but A Good Year wasn't *that* good.

They should have the dog from My Dog Skip play the dog. I'm curious of who's going to play the thimble.

You people are idiots
Don't get me wrong, I hate Ridley Scott as much as the next guy, but y'all getting hung up on the fact that it's "OMG A BOARD GAME MOVIE" are missing the point. It's a movie about the concept of maintaining a business monopoly. It's not gonna be about some old white dude with a cane and a bifocal running around in a magical car spreading cheer and joy to people with Get Out of Jail Free cards. ...

It's a movie about the concept of maintaining a business monopoly. It's not gonna be about some old white dude with a cane and a bifocal running around in a magical car spreading cheer and joy to people with Get Out of Jail Free cards. It'll probably have nothing to do with the board game itself, it's just the idea of a story based around business monopolies.

Peace out. - Kenny Powers

A bad year
I have a lot of respect for Ridley Scott. I think he is a good director. But "A good year" just sucked. Really a waste of time.

I also liked good year-- One of those great, summer-esque, middle of the afternoon sort of movies that just makes you feel good...

... Like the new film Bottle Shock (which I thought was also realy enjoyable), both coincidentally about wine country....

And I still dont see how a story could relate to the game in any way that wouldnt feel superficial... But then aga...
