If you've had some weird and slightly inappropriate dream that involved Dakota Fanning wearing a corset and thigh-high fishnet stockings, then you're probably gonna wanna see THE RUNAWAYS (after seeking psychiatric help). Fanning has signed on to co-star in RUNAWAYS, a movie based on the influential all-girl punk rock back from the 70s. While the 15-year-old Fanning might seem a little young to star in a movie about a punk rock band, she's actually the same age as her character, lead singer Cheri Currie, when she joined the band. Fanning joins Kristen Stewart who had previously signed on to star as guitarist Joan Jett. Music video director and fashion photographer Floria Sigismondi would make her directorial debut on the project. This is just the next step in the "Dakota Fanning Is All Growns Up" tour that includes her upcoming role a villainous vampire in NEW MOON. Filming on RUNAWAYS is expected to begin later this spring.

Extra Tidbit: Currie is now a professional chainsaw sculptor. Meaning that she sculpts things with her chainsaw not that she sculpts chainsaws.

I love the runaways. While Dakota Fanning has annoyed me before she certainly seems to be growing with her roles so this should be interesting.

She'd be great as Molly if it was the comics.
I too thought this was in reference to the awesome comic Runaways. Oh well.. the fact that it's about the band doesn't make it any less cool. Have nothing against Fanning,(She was the bomb in I Am Sam) if anything the most annoying child actors would have to be the Breslin's in my mind.
