Jon Favreau, Robert Downey Jr., Jack Black Jon Favreau has been rumored to be directing the upcoming AVENGERS film for a while now. Well, not so much rumored as him saying over and over how great it'd be if he directed the flick. Well, it seems he may not just be blowing smoke up our asses as a mole inside Marvel recently revealed to Harry and co. over at AICN the following:

Avengers is delayed a year [Read about it HERE] because of financing issues but also because the plan is for Favreau to helm it. Everybody here loves the guy and he wants to do it, but it would have been impossible for him to do before the date change given his Iron Man 2 commitments. Also partly the reason why he agreed to do the Stark sequel on such an accelerated schedule was so he could get given first dibs on this. It would still be a punishing schedule for him, so hes not firmly confirmed yet, but he is certainly the presumptive director at this point.

Well, the Favs certainly knows how to bring kick ass comic book adaptations to the big screen but doing IRON MAN 2 and AVENGERS so close together may take a toll on the Favs. What do you guys think? Read the rest of what AICN's spy had to say over HERE.

Extra Tidbit: Favreau is an alumnus of Chicago's ImprovOlympic troupe.

Sounds good
If all these movies are supposed to be connected, Ironman, Captain America, Thor…. Who better to put them all together then the man that set the whole thing in motion? It’s a no brainier to me but two major movies in a row so close maybe hard but I don’t think hell have an issue with it.

This is great news. Favs nailed the Ironman movie, and he would definitely be my first choice for Avengers.

You forgot Leterrier. I thought he did a bang up job on TIH considering his timeframe to shoot, studio/Norton pressure, etc. I would definitely put him in the running.

I'd be willing to bet the Avengers movie will get pushed back again in the future, so I don't think Favs will have a problem directing it. In terms of continuity it would be nice to have one of the directors (Bragnah, Favs, or Johnson) do Avengers.

If he can do it then bucket why not? Some people love what they do and thrive in it no matter what. Hell he might even do better with the pressure. Or he might just miss and get stuck with the crappy "Curse of the Third." You know Spider-man 3, Blade 3, Shrek 3, Pirates 3, Once upon a Time in Mexico, and so many other shitty finales to triologies. Here's hopin Nolan's third will not succumb to ...

hell yeah!
I'm pretty sure that if IM2 does well in theaters and is better than IM he'll definaltely be the official AVENGERS movie director which I'm almost possitive will happen.

Diggin' it. Aside from that a main concern I have as a fan is continuity and I hope for it's sake they'll get the same actors to play the leads.

Downey's a give-in but I have a feeling Norton is going to be an issue. And as far as Caps goes I'd honestly like to see McCanaughey in the role. Thor, that's rough...but I gotta say Ethan Hawke. It's all about the career revival. Anywa...
