Pete Segal (GET SMART) has emerged as the frontrunner to direct the third installment in the FOCKERS franchise, MEET THE FOCKERS. Segal formerly wasn't on the radar of Universal (who had been looking at ROLE MODELS director David Wain among others) because of his commitment to direct GET SMART 2. But when SMART star Steve Carell opted to instead star with Tina Fey in DATE NIGHT (good idea), Segal had an opening in his schedule. A deal hasn't been signed yet but Segal is meeting with the cast this week and should that go well, Segal will be onboard. Frankly I would've been more interested in what Wain can do having not been impressed with many of Segal's comedies (TOMMY BOY aside but that was basically Chris Farley's show). I suppose this means that SHAZAM, or at least the version that Segal was developing, truly is dead.

Extra Tidbit: To be fair, Segal's a really nice guy and I wish him the best of luck.

Although I hope they make a Captain Marvel movie one of these days I'm glad John August's script is dead. He's written some great stuff (Big Fish for example), but everything I heard about that script was bad. It sounded like it was very much a kid's comedy, not what I want in my superhero movies, not even a Captain Marvel one.

Huh?
The second one was titled "Meet The Fockers." So how can this one have the same title, eh?

Either way, this will probably suck just like the second one did.
