Update: Fox has apparently already given PREDATORS a July 7th, 2010 release date.

Robert Rodriguez Prolific jack-of-all-trades filmmaker Robert Rodriguez recently spilled the beans on his upcoming slate at a press conference at his Troublemaker Studios and the folks at the IESB were on hand to gather the scoopage. He told the assembled crowd: "I'm going to be able to shoot my upcoming Machete here, a sci-fi action film called Nervewrackers, a re-boot of the Predator series called Predators, and a couple of smaller movies called Sin City 2 and The Jetsons." Wow, a lot of stuff revealed in a very short statement. First of all, MACHETE is a go, which is awesome. Second, he's still attached to SIN CITY 2 which is double awesome. And third, he's pluralizing his PREDATOR reboot? Is this necessary? One bad ass Predator isn't enough? Let's just hope he gets started on any one of these sometime soon.

You've got me wrong dude. Did I say he was a BAD filmmaker? Absolutely not. A hack? Nope. But overrated? YES. That being said, I've read the man's book and do appreciate his DIY ethic but other than that...eh. I'm sure his handling of the PREDATOR reboot will be interesting but the fact that they're "re-imagining" a classic fucking film so soon (or at all for that matter) nauseates me.

And not to undermine Rodriguez in any way or sound boastful but to argue your statement I've made short films that look like they could have cost me more than a couple thousand dollars each and they came out reasonably exceptional, the biggest expense on my budget ended up being lunch for my crew.

And to clarify his budget for "El Mariachi" was $7,000, not $12. You're a big fan, you should know that...

Rodriguez is an amazing film maker. He knows how to make a movie look awesome without spending a ton of money. That alone takes skill and talent.

I've never really enjoyed Robert Rodriguez's movies. Simply put, they are too cheesy for me. He's like a worse version of Michael Bay.

So i'll let everyone in on a little secret, cause obviously the people getting paid the big bucks can't get it threw their thick skulls. It's all about character development. You need to feel for the characters before they start getting picked off, simply put. In both Alien and Predator, you didn't even know if was really an alien flick till the middle of the film. You NEED to set up personality and emotion in the actors, then have them die, lol.


Rodriguez will fuck it up, watch. I'm putting a 100$ bet on it right now. Takers?

@ ActionFan81 it was mentioned in the 2nd one that he died from radiation poisoning which was caused by the explosion. Maybe i said it wrong i didnt mean he died in the first movie, i meant that the explosion from the first one later killed him. Better?

He's one of the more interesting film makers out there, but Machete seems like a step backwards. I thought he said the point of that 'trailer' was to just show all the best parts? Now they're gonna just add in all the other crap around it and release it as a whole movie? Why bother? It could be good, but it'll be hard to top that trailer... Predators= Who Cares. Sin City 2 should have already b...

In short he should make it a 3D animated cartoon or 2D with 3D-FX.

However I'm cool with Sin City 2, just want to see how he's going to pull it off because after the first one I felt a sequel wasn't needed.

As for Predator I don't think we need a reboot just another sequel that completely ignores the AVP bullshit and I would suggest its should be set in a post-apocalyptic future, MadMax style with a lot of guns. Maybe throw in the terminator as a joke, LOL! OOPs, hope I haven't given any ideas about a possible Predator Vs Terminator mash-up to some greedy exec reading this post! But then again, the Predator in the comics did fight with Batman, so I guess.......

For some reason, I always wanted to see a live action Jetsons movie. I'm excited it will happen, but Rodriguez at the hailm? Bizarre, but, hopefully, good.

You know what would be cool...a Predator movie that doesn't involve humans at all. They are from someplace and have visited many planets and met and killed many creatures that would be a lot more interesting than another battle with the U.S. Military. How about something original for a change. Maybe Charlie Kaufman could write it. Laugh all you want(I am) but it just might work

"They just fucked with the wrong mexican!" Once upon a time a guy named Quentin Tarantino was high on my list of favorite directors. Cliche' I know, but nonetheless it was true. Then came Death Proof, with all its not-so-witty endless chick banter and about 4 minutes of gore. Weak. Yet it was because of Death Proof that I found a new number one. Rodriguez's Planet Terror was a fun movie to wat...

Rodriguez will kill on all of these movies. Hes versatile enough to do The Jetsons (though it will be aimed towards kids) and knows action and gore enough to do a Predator reboot. I believe I heard Sin City 2 was a prequel so lets hope Rodriguez can get Rourke to reprise Marv. With all the shit spewing from Hollywood these days, this is great news!

Nothing good since SIN CITY? Yeah, check out PLANET TERROR (the GOOD half of GRINDHOUSE). Other than that, he really hasn't done much lately. Rodriguez is one of my favorite filmmakers; I love his "Do it yourself" style. Glad to see him getting back to work!

This sounds great, particularly Sin City 2. Will wait and see with Predators, although I have faith in Rodriguez. Machete could be extremely awesome. Although half of what made it classic was the voiceover, so who knows.

He hasn't done anything interesting since Sin City so it's no surprise he'd hit the well again.

As for PredatorS..can't see it. McTiernan's not locked up, right? Get him back in there. Besides, I remember hearing about the Predators script years ago and I heard it was terrible. Marines on the Predators home planet or something. Like that other movie with the S.
He hasn't done anything interesting since Sin City so it's no surprise he'd hit the well again.
