Russell Crowe, ROBIN HOOD After getting his ass booted as FoxNews.com's resident gossip columnist, Roger Friedman wasted no time in getting his own blog, retitled Showbiz411, up and running and he's already landed some decent scoopage. He's reporting, in his own incredibly grating way, that Ridley Scott's currently filming ROBIN HOOD, a re-imagining of the popular tale of the titular outlaw archer who robs from the rich and gives to the poor, is being completely rewritten by SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE screenwriter and acclaimed playwright Tom Stoppard. Even though Stoppard is an incredibly talented writer, a complete overhaul on a script during production never bodes well for the end result. Let's just hope Scott knows what he's doing. What do you guys think?

Didn't the same thing happen with Gladiator?

Apparently the most memorable quotes from that movie came from Crowe himself, and not Scott or the many versions of the script

Could work, could be a disaster.

I was sort of hoping the rewrite was referring to the switch from Nottingham to Robin Hood.

Matthew MacFayden's a fine actor, but a little young in my opinion. Unless they reversed the roles (like originally planned).

I'm not surprised. This film went trough so many changes already (wasn't it called Nothingham with the Sheriff as the hero before) Ridley Scott as a history of tweaking the script to fit his and the actors ideas and sensibilities. (ALien, Blade Runner,Gladiator and American Gangster went trough drastic changes before and while in production) That's just how Scott works! I know the final product...
