Spider-Man It's been a while since we've heard any news or outlandish rumor (Zac Efron is playing Mysterio! Robert Pattinson is playing Kraven! Jake Gyllenhaal is playing Ben Riley!) regarding the upcoming SPIDER-MAN 4. We know that director Sam Raimi is hard at work crafting the story with scribe David Lindsay-Abaire but just exactly how close are they to a full script? Our main men Rusty E. and Jimmy "The 'Stache" O. overheard Raimi say this at a recent press event: "I've just started working on the next installment of the Spiderman series. David Lindsay-Abaire is in New York right now writing the screenplay and I am going to receive a draft of it in about 3 weeks I think." So three more weeks and we'll have at least a rough outline of our fourth cinematic Spidey adventure? Coolio. Let the rampant story rumor mongering begin!

i'm definitely hoping for some carnage, maybe some lizard?

The lizard and Mysterio or perhaps the Rhino,of course Manwolf could work as well Mary Jane left John at the alter and that could make him howling mad....

He said RUMORS that Jake G was playing Ben Reilly. Outlandish rumors. Obviously not the direction they're going. The clone story sucked as a whole, but had some interesting ideas in the beginning. Never thought of possibly going in that direction in a movie.

I would like to see Scorpion and Shocker/Electro in a the next films. Scorpion gets the symbiote to become Scorp-Venom lik...

I think it would be really could if Raimi and crew decided to go in a different direction. In a post TDK universe, all comic book films are being more harshly criticized.
I think tying off the loose ends in spidey 3 gives them free reign to change the tone of the spider-man universe and set the stage for another 3 movies. Spidey 3 was unfortunate but it wasn't a deal-breaker for me, soo ...

After Spidey 3 all i can feel is eh about this one. Of course after Spidey 2 i was stoked to hear about a third... but now, eh. 3 could have been epic if they left the saturday night fever-type scenes out, there was no real need for sandman, and delved more into venom... but for a fourth i say maybe start up something that all the marvel movies can be linked to, sorta like iron-man plans to do ...

There's still Carnage, Lizard, Rhino, plenty of villains to make this movie work. and plenty more storylines to choose from.

I've always thought the clone saga could work with a bit of updating - i.e. no clones and instead someone injects someone else with Spidey's DNA or something. That would work for me. Also agree with Netforce - Connors has some of the venom symbiote: maybe he combines it with reptile DNA to heal his arm?

And then after three weeks they gonna say they need to rewrite the draft for another 3 weeks and so on and on. A good start for the next Spider-Man movie could be The Lizard and branching out from there. Maybe linking The Lizard to the missing Venom-esque substance. Just a thought.

It would make sense since we have seen the Doc who later become him. It would be a lot cooler if he's the villain. It would make sense for him to be since we've seen his human form.

Since they have Ben Riley they are going to follow the clone series. it also means a potential carnage introduction. this could be a good story if its written right. I agree Raimi could redeem himself three had decent fight but the story was flawed for a venom story. so well see what happens with 4 from here on.

they should ideally quasi-reboot. new cast, crew, "direction", but no need to do the origin story over again.

i think spider-man (and batman) movies will be made forever like james bond! regardless of the script, spider-man 3 had some awesome action scenes, and people will always be attracted to that.

I think the whole reboot is a bad idea, seems like a weakness in movies now. "Hey, if this sucks, we'll just start from scratch again!" I think going in with a different take, new cast, and new writers would be the way to go. Raimi should just produce. He peaked on 2 and after 3, it's obvious he's out of steam....

I don't think the chances are good. Sony will probably remake it after 4. They've been waiting sooo long because the 3rd was crap and I assume they are letting the audiences forget about that.
As long as raimi is directing and sony is making spider-man will always be crap. They are running out of superman movies to copy.
