Strike Back below!
by: Daniel Barna May. 22, 2009

The following article will be written in the name of straight news, and will be free of attempted humour, sarcasm, and just plain silliness. Enjoy.

Michael Moore's latest documentary deals with the economic meltdown and has been assigned an October 2nd release date. Moore's examination of what he refers to as "the biggest robbery in the history of this country" may very well be his latest entry into the pantheon of absurdly lucrative documentaries, following in the footsteps of BOWLING FOR COLUMBINE, FARENHEIT 9/11 and SICKO. In a recent statement about his upcoming film, Moore had this to say:

The wealthy, at some point, decided they didn't have enough wealth. They wanted more -- a lot more. So they systematically set about to fleece the American people out of their hard-earned money. Now, why would they do this? That is what I seek to discover in this movie.

That's all well and good Michael, but can you please stop eating jello for breakfast, lunch, and dinner? Sorry, I couldn't resist.

im sorry but his films are usually right on, sicko was amazing, and its too bad when really all he is trying to do is help the American people become aware of all the bureaucratic bullshit thats ruining the economy and how the rich shouldnt have to spend anything to help fix it.

Michael Moore is one of the dumbest men in documentary film. Just his synopsis of his new film tells me he hasn't gotten any smarter.

Politics aside...
He does know the economic crisis doesnt have to do "Rich being bored and wanting more money" right? I mean come on, that excuse is worse than "Cuz i'm black right?" If he went after the government over spending and banks taking and not giving, THEN i'd watch.

Every documentary is propoganda. So is every commercial and film and advertisement and form of media that you will ever see. Every form of published media seeks to make you think a certain way depending on their angle. That doesn't mean it's not worth your time to check it out and at least have an informed opinion.

Let's hope he gets this right. I really enjoy watching his documentaries, but this is a very complex problem that has its roots going back for decades, and I hope that he really gives it the attention to detail it deserves.

Actually, last I checked, I think he'd lost weight.

What's my favorite Michael Moore documentary...?

Sorry, but that's a trick question, because the man doesn't make documentaries, he makes deceptive propaganda.

I have nothing against Michael Moore. I’ve enjoyed most of his movies and think whatever this movie turns out to be will be interesting, however, I feel this is too soon. The current financial crisis we’re in isn’t over yet. While the economy will improve in 2010, the ramifications of what we’re dealing with now will affect this country and the rest of the world for quite a while. A lot has been made of the reasons this crisis occurred, and while “credit default swaps”, “toxic assets”, and “greed” are just a few of the causes, they are by no means the only ones. I find it hard to believe Mr. Moore can present us with a fair and balanced documentary (insert lame joke here) of what has happened because I don’t really believe he could have made the right film in this short amount of time. To truly analyze what happened and make it into a two hour movie would take considerable time, effort, and tact and I fear Mr. Moore has not taken that into consideration. I will be seeing this movie when it comes out but I am worried that he will cheat many Americans out of a better and truer understanding of what exactly went wrong.
