UPDATE - Superhero Hype is reporting this though this poster was hanging at the Licensing Expo, it wasn't created by either Sony Pictures or Marvel and is not official artwork for the film.

The movie doesn't come out until 2011 but a very early teaser poster for SPIDER-MAN 4 has already made its way online. It comes out of the licensing show in Las Vegas where people license things, look to license looks, license things bought or sold, sell things bought or processed... I don't know where I'm going with that but Sony was there promoting some of their upcoming movies for promotional tie-ins. As part of their booth they had a poster for SPIDER-MAN 4. At this point in the game, when no one other than Tobey Maguire and Sam Raimi are confirmed as participating in the film, there's not much to look at other than the number 4 and the New York skyline but that should be enough to get some people's trousers tight. Sure, Spider-Man 3 was shit, but I still hold Spider-Man 1 & 2 as some of the best comic book movies ever, and I know they can do a lot still considering there's so much source material. Bring on #4!

I can't believe the negative attitude people have had towards the spiderman frachise since number 3!!! do people forget how highly rated and fan fucking tastic they were? gathered 3 is shit,i was disappointed that raimi wasnt given enough control to just leave venom out (lets face he isnt meant for the pg 13 universe) but i have by no means disregarded the sheer brilliance of 1 and 2,and hearin...

...after reading a few comments I guess it COULD refer to Morbius (the sunlight and half the city getting dark), but it's still a bad poster. Teaser, fine. But bad poster.

Also, I'd rather have Carnage and a Venom resurrection. Lizard fine. But Morbius? Seriously?

I like how Sony used it's Spider-Man font for the Playstation 3. They should seriously stay out of making movies.

They also have posters for Iron Man 2, Thor, First Avenger: Captain America, and The avengers movies. All just titles with the release date. Again these posters are to show the upcoming slate to sell to promoters. These posters aren't teasers for the viewing public unless u want your brand name in the movie.

I'm not really interested. With Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk being superior movies, I really have no desire to see another Spider-Man. Also, the first one was kind of dumb.

That's a terrible poster, its barely even a four. Maybe an upside down, mirrored lower case h but come on, for as little work that was done on the poster you think they could at least put a decent four on there. Jeesh.

Jesus, people need to calm the fuck down. It's ONE Poster. Movie studios do this all the time. Shit, they have posters AND dates set up for all marvel movies including The Avengers in 2012. It happens in their mann all the time.

We've got 2 years left and I'm pretty confident Raimi and the head honchos at Sony and Marvel learned their lesson from the clusterfuck of Spider-Man 3.

What do you people want? A badass poster that reveals the villain and heroes? The movie doesn't come out for two years! This poster does the right job. Gets you interested. Then again, I didnt turn my back on Raimi simply because I didnt like Spidey 3.

cool. I'm excited for this movie, i think raimi wont let us down twice.
As for the poster, its for people who will be paying for this movie to be made not us fans. Thats why its so early so stop complaining. When the Teaser poster comes out for us fans it will be better im sure.

This poster confirms for me the fact that it will involve Morbius, and hopefully Lizard. There is a big emphasis on the sunlight.

If Spider-Man 3 never happened, I'd be excited. Heck, I AM still a lil' excited. But seriously, if you don't know what to put in a poster, don't make one. That's the worst teaser poster I've seen in a long time. Not only does it look horribly fake, it also does nothing at all. A lil' more detail, at least! Yeeesh.

I love how it HAS to be May 6th, who cares if Raimi can deliver the film in time. Studios are now just buying dates.
