Commando remake?

Remember when I promised to remake you last? I lied.

Hollywood is slowly working its way through history (distant or recent) for material to remake, revamp or reboot, and even a masterpiece like COMMANDO is not immune.

'Katy' forwarded us a sidebar bit from an Aussie mag called RCI, claiming that COMMANDO was being eyeballed for the redo treatment (right along with action flicks like CLIFFHANGER and RED DAWN). Not much info, so I checked with someone else who would know -- and they have indeed "heard whispers" of an update of the flick (the idea has apparently been kicking around for a while now).

The 1985 massacre starred Arnold Schwarzenegger as a retired elite soldier whose daughter is kidnapped to coerce him back into service, sending him on a vengeful rage against his former comrades, an effeminate adversary and an entire fictional country.

Specifics on this purported remake are as scarce as the original movie's logic, realism or continuity, but at least we're prepared for the inevitable official announcement. Of course, Russia has already beaten Hollywood to the figurative punch:

Too many good lines they should just re-release it and watch the money come rolling in. Id pay to see this at the movies.

Look at the bright side...
Well look on the bright side...they're clearly lacking good original scripts so if your sitting on a gem of an idea...get off your ass, write a screenplay and march it on down to Hollywood!

the only remakes i like are ones that can actually be made better with todays technology. This is not one them.
There is nothing they can do to make this more modern

these are not creative people doing this.
they cant create anything and thats why they are just redoing whats been done and what they are familiar with-

I am usually Ok with remakes........
but not this one! The only other remake I have been against is Evil Dead (NOBODY ELSE CAN PLAY ASH). I am even OK with the Total Recall and Alien Re-boot-makes, but Commando is taking it too far. That is like remaking The Ocatagon or Death Wish with Zac Ephron!

ARNIE Movies without ARNIE?
Of course one reason alot of these old movies were fun was the actors.

Remaking Arnold movies without Arnold? It's missing the point. Without Arnie, Commando was just another noisy pointless action movie.

I reckon some studio exec is just playing games with IMDB or RottenTomatoes. Throw in a random word or name, see what movie pops up and *BING*. Remake time.
