I love stupid people. They're endlessly entertaining.

Today, after watching trailer after trailer before a showing of PELHAM 123 in Los Angeles,a giant image of Michael Moore's head popped up on the screen. He began a heartfelt speech about being willing to give, to help out your fellow man. His charity? "Save the CEO's".

Everyone was laughing as a bunch of ushers in "Save the CEO's" teeshirts passed around coffee cups and asked for donations.

Now, I like Micheal Moore. And right now, a film from him that bashes CEO's would be right up my alley. And even if you hate him, you would get that this is a joke, right? Um...people actually GAVE MONEY!!! I'm not kidding. I actually heard some guy say, "Honey, grab my wallet". Sigh.

The joke was repeated in four cities around the country. No word on how much dough they made.

By the way, I asked. The take is going to a local food bank.

Dear Oxidant... You Are The Silliest Schmoe Yet
If you truly believe that this spiral of craptastic ecomony we are currently in is not Bush's fault, then you are truly deluded. Who got us into a war that cost us $3 trilion dollars? Bush! Who signed a bill to give CEOs major tax breaks? Bush! Now, the left is not perfect either, but the economy is 100% Bush's fault.

As far as I'm concerned, the actual subjects of Moore's documentaries (aka CEOs) are a million times worse than he could ever be. I truly don't understand why people hate Michael Moore, I really don't.

I think it has a lot to do with incessant Fox News/Talk Radio propaganda myself - what do you expect with the constant drumbeat of "so and so is an America hating commie who loves homosexuals and illegals & hates the troops! - oh and he's really fat too!"? *sigh

If you really think that our economy is in such bad shape all because of Bush then that is just ignorant. As for Michael Moore the most honest performance I have ever seen of his was in Team America.

Here comes the haters!
Seriously, do like most of you just watch Fox News and read drudgereport?

Sicko and Roger and Me were both excellent flicks. I look forward to Moore's next.

Ender, you're comment makes another point no one else mentioned: most of the country does hate Wall Street and CEOs, so why watch this movie? What will Moore prove if he is just saying what everyone else is thinking? There is no controversy in that; no originality. So, your comment doesn't help Moore's cause: why should we want to see a movie that states what a public consensus. So we can all give ourselves a collective pat on the back? ("Wow, Moore is so right, isn't he?" "I totally agree . . .") There is no controversy in that.

Try this for controversy: for how greedy CEOs of companies are and how public this has become, there are plenty of CEOs who run businesses effectively. Also, simple logic: if you don't bail out or support the big businesses, the middle class will lose jobs. This may shock you, but not all CEOs are the same. Also, if you raise taxes on businesses, even the smaller ones will be affected. I don't agree with a lot of the CEOs public display, but not every rich person acts that way. If businesses collapse, jobs are loss. It's a chain reaction. Besides that, how would most of you act with a lot of money? I'd be willing to think you'd feel differently.

Why is he trying to convert America into every other country in the world with his "mockumentaries"? I understand he is supposes himself to be well intentioned (hell I think the banks are full of crap too) but he goes about it in the worst way. America should always stand apart. It was founded that way it should stay that way.

PS. I was raised in Canada and I'm still saying this.

jetsetter, Michael Moore twists and distorts the truth. Although he is not promoting someone like Hitler, what he does isn't all that different from the work of Leni Riefenstahl.

F#ck off Moore...
If he were truly sincere about being concerned for the financial well-being of the American public, he won't charge them a dime to see his new film.

Let's see if that happens.....f#cking doubtful.

Bretchsky is right
Some of it can be chalked up to creative editing, but some of Moore's statements are outright lies. For example, in Roger & Me he flatout states that Roger Smith would not agree to meet with him. In reality he did, twice, and even let them record their conversations (a portion of the footage later appeared in the documentary Manufacturing Dissent). So yes, some of Moore's statements have been ...

So he's doing a new movie about banks I guess. That sucks, way too obvious and its never gonna be as engaging as Bolwing for... I think Moore should stop really.

Also, its really depressing to hear that some people were actually stupid enough to donate money, I guess all they need to hear is 'help our fellow Americans'. I love the States...but I'm glad I don't live there.

He did the same thing on his old TV show, TV Nation. He held a benefit concert for corporations and their CEO's called Corp-Aid and actually raised some money and tried to give it to a bunch of different companies. None of them would take it.
