Kids, prepare to get freaked out. On March 5, Disney will release Tim Burton's ALICE IN WONDERLAND and based on the first shots of Johnny Depp as The Mad Hatter and Helena Bonham Carter as The Red Queen, it could be a pretty dark ride. The plot follows Alice as she returns to Wonderland 10 years after her original visit. As I'm sure you've heard, the film will be presented in 3D, which will only make the moat filled with bobbing, decapitated heads (which surrounds the Red Queen's castle) even creepier. Yea, u could switch Depp for Madonna in that makeup and no one would know the difference! should be a cool take on this-in the late 70's I saw a live version film on t.v. that was awesome! maybe a British made film I think? would luv to find that one on dvd-years ago couldn't find it even on vhs!

Dark?

I like the pics, but anybody who thinks what Tim Burton does is "dark" is... unclear on the meaning of the term. Burton does camp. His stuff is usually fun and quirky, and odd, but it's hardly dark.

Guillermo del Toro does dark. Otto Preminger did dark. Tim Burton... not so much.

he really does look like elijah wood hahah i just thought the same thing. but this looks visually stunning. i cant wait to see all this moving around and talking on film.

get why ppl say a director change his style when....thats his style. Thats like telling a painter to change his style of painting...a singer to change their style of music.. i mean...really. This is Burton...its what he does. its [link] It looks good.

Cigarette Burn we're in agreement. THis material is great for Burton's style. Its his Style! He doesn't need a new "Schtick". Directors have styles they tend to direct movies in. Why the change? Maybe some people get bored, but they don't speak for everyone. "Hey Scorsese! Stop making Mafia Gangster type movies. Get a new schtick." See how stupid that sounds.

Every production of 'Wonderland' that I've ever seen has been undone by the miscasting of Alice herself. (Jonathan Miller's otherwise remarkable production, for example, or the '99 Hallmark miniseries.) I'm hoping this new film will break this cycle...

The last few posts astound me in their negativity. This looks great! ALICE IN WONDERLAND is perfect material for Burton's sensibilities.

Tim Burton needs a new schtick... needs to work with new actors... needs a new stylist for his films... needs to stop dying brunettes blonde (Ricci, Ryder, the chic above)... needs to get over his love of top hats... needs a new color palet... needs to get over his childhood.

Not too excited for this. Mad Hatter just looks retarded to me. I must agree I'm sick of the whole dark alice thing. Emo kids rejoice, hot topic will now be selling black t-shirts with johnny depps mad hatter face on it. I don't think burton has made a really good movie since big fish. Every one since has just been a one time viewing experience and nothing more. Hopefully i'll be proved wrong.

The whole "dark" alice and Wonderland has been done to death in books video games and the billion other "dark" alice movies in the works. I would have like to see him tackle something different like make a "dark" Wizard of OZ or something. Just sick of Alice and Wonderland and this is not helping.

this is what happens when you let little emo dudes do whatever they want in hollywood.

look, i'm all for this, and the other pics not shown here are more impressive, the landscapes look incredible.
But if its a musical like Burtons last film, count me the fuck out because that music sucked and so did the delivery.

Wow. They all look really amazing in costume. I really hope this movie does have some sort of creepy vibe, but it will be worth the watch nevertheless.
