Losers get a date
Warner Bros.' adaptation of the DC/Vertigo comic series THE LOSERS looks like it will kick off next summer's action pretty early.
According to Box Office Mojo, the flick is slotted for release on April 16th, 2010. The story revolves around a black ops team left for dead during a mission and seeking revenge on the agent(s) who doublecrossed them.
Is the studio hoping to get the jump on the higher-profile A-TEAM movie, scheduled for next June? Or THE EXPENDABLES, hitting later in April? Whatever the motive, THE LOSERS will have to contend with Platinum Dunes' remake of NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, already planted on the same weekend.
The team is led by ex-WATCHMEN member and "SUPERNATURAL" dad Jeffrey Dean Morgan, with Chris Evans, Óscar Jaenada (CHE), Idris Elba ("The Wire"), Zoe Saldana (STAR TREK) and Columbus Short (STOMP THE YARD) rounding out the crew as they hunt for villain Jason Patric. STOMP THE YARD director Sylvain White is handling the action for überproducer Joel Silver's company Dark Castle.

Extra Tidbit: Next year's comic book movies are a bit on the thin side right now, with IRON MAN 2 and JONAH HEX on the short list.

Don't forget we also get Scott Pilgrim next year (even though that's not a superhero flick). So five very cool looking comic films in one year isn't bad at all.
