TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN has broken the record for biggest opening day ever for a Wednesday release, easily eclipsing HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX, which grossed $44.2M back in 2007. In fact, TF2 made so much money that its $60.6M was good enough for second all-time, $7M short of THE DARK KNIGHT, which was released on a Friday, it should be noted.

I actually just got back from seeing this thing and if it has any legs I will be floored. Even for fanboys this thing must be painful. And I've argued with one of our writers because I loved the first one. But I feel bad for championing the franchise now. I seriously might be done with Michael Bay, or Orci and Kurtzman. I haven't decided yet, but I definitely hate someone.

i agree.. the plot sucked although it went hand in hand with the cartoon it was still too much.. it could have done without a whole bunch of shit.. all in all tho i feel it was a very fun movie to watch and it somethin u would expect from bay.. he makes blockbusters not award winners.. i hope he puts more time, thought, and consideration into 3..

And the best ost kickass scene in...

It doesn't have the quality of the first film. Bad writing, messy plot, major plotholes, continuity errors, rushy movie. But at the end of the day, it's awesome all the same. Part one was more composed and had its action, part 2 is insane and has action from start to finish.

Personally, I KNEW it had a rushed script, I KNEW Michael Bay would make a messy sequel, and I also knew ...
It doesn't have the quality of the first film. Bad writing, messy plot, major plotholes, continuity errors, rushy movie. But at the end of the day, it's awesome all the same. Part one was more composed and had its action, part 2 is insane and has action from start to finish.

Personally, I KNEW it had a rushed script, I KNEW Michael Bay would make a messy sequel, and I also knew that I shouldn't get lost in the hype too much. I didn't expect Ramon Rodriguez to be such an @$$hole, though. I wanted a Decepticon to blow his kneecaps off!

What I'm saying is, when you watch a Bay flick, watch it with a filtered mind. Accept the awesome visuals and FX, throw out the lousy story and frustrating humor.

All in all, I loved TF2. Going to watch it again soon. And I'm pretty sure 3 will be fixed and turn out to be the best in the trilogy.

Asie from the terrible editing, to be truthful, thinking about it, did I actually care about the fights - nah, I had nothing invested in seeing camp robots throw each other around. Nothing at all.

i absolutely loved this movie! yes there were things in it that were a bit questionable and i was surprised by the twins, but there were a few instances i found them funny and they were hardly in the movie! the hatred for jar jar makes much more sense then the twins because jar jar was in a significant amount of film but the twins were in maybe 20 minutes of the 2 and a half hour film.

i feel as though all of you who hated it were expecting a batman-esque film with incredible realism. i went in there expecting some terrible writting and cheap laughs, and oh were there cheap laughs but i loved every minute one of them!

i wonder how you all would suggest they make those fights any clearer with giant robots? hell the slowed down at least one to two moments in each fight to show who was kicking the most ass and they had distant shots to help show the fight. if you're gonna complain about not being able to see fights, complain about the bourne films, or the batman films, or the bonde films first cause those films gave me headaches with their fights.

it's only my opinion though and i had a hell of a lot of fun in the film and that's all i wanted! fun and cartoon like realism!

but when i got to a club, i dont want to hear classical music. i want to hear something with a bunch of bass that make s the girls shake their asses. soulja boy will do that. and for that, i appreciate things like the "crank dat".

i know that it's not the most intelligent or groundbreaking piece of art (TF2 and soulja boy) but they serve their purpose and are great when they're used properly and taken for what they are.

There is no "movie" and "film" bullshit and each for "different purposes", that's an utter load of pretentious drivel, a total cop-out; a great movie is entertaining on one level, but also intelligent and thought provoking on another; that is what great movies are supposed to be.

You actually state it yourself, that there's nothing in the movie; it lacks basic elements of storytelling; character development, relatability, structure, great dialogue...and just flat-out fails to have a decent plot, full stop!

As an example, compare this crap to something like the DARK KNIGHT, or the BOURNE FILMS. Or many of the films by someone like James Cameron.

In this it's nothing but CLUNKY, FAT, CAMP ROBOTS hitting each other in which you can barely tell what is going on. Nothing but explosion after another, with characters somehow managing to outrun them! HOW MANY FUCKING EXPLOSIONS CAN YOU SEE BEFORE YOU GET BORED!!!! I though TERMINATOR 4 did exaclty the same thing. Is there a huge difference between these two films? (Terminator being a little better...) But think about that. There's nothing creative, original or interesing in this. The mind boggles that people consider this great. Its really a sad state of affairs.

Bay is not only laughing his ass off at the money he'll get for this, but at people that defend it; that people suck this turgid garbage up without really having thought about what they've just seen.

And how the hell does anyone just "switch of their brain" in reality? Is there a button you press on the side of your head? Absolute nonsense.

Even compared to the other Bay films it's just shambolic in every way; a cynide pill sugar coated with the 200 million that was spent on it and dipped in CGI shit.

This is the MacDonalds of moviemaking. Plain and simple.

If you don't understand why this is bad, I actually pity you.

comparing the two is like comparing apples and pizzas. saying TF2 sucks b/c there was bad writing is just as silly as apples suck because they don't have pepperonis on them.

like i said before, the whole transformers universe was initially created to sell toys to children.

Everyone has an opinion, which is cool, but sometimes I think we can take this fanboy/critic thing a bit too seriously. It's a movie about giant robots, for the love of Pete.

Beyond that, the fact that the film is incredibly sexist, racist, crude, and an insult to anyone watching it with half a brain.

Can you not really see how stupid the whole thing is? Even entertainment itself should be smart, well written, acted and directed.

You just don't seem to have cottoned on!

You need to open your eyes a little more and start thnking about the power of the medium and the affect it can have on viewers, even trash like this.

Yes, movies are supposed to be fun, as well as anything else, but this is so terrible in so many ways it defies belief.

The fact that people keeep making excuses for this crap is deplorable. And please, don't plead for Bay, he doesn't give two flying shits about the audience, which is clear by what he's put in the cinemas. The fact that he made 80 million from residuals on the last Trashformers, you think he cares what anyone says.

And its an insult to compare Bay to someone like Micheal Jackon. One is talented and will be missed, the other, a hack of the highest order, that would be replaced in a shot, by another "genius" in being able to blow things up.

I’m getting hot and bothered about a trend of mindless shit that eventually, if people kept paying for it, will extend to a YEAR-LONG tradition, not just during the summer. There is simply no way that TF2 is going to hold up even 10 years from now after multiple viewings. I dare you to try and sit through all of ID4 now; it’s unbearable, even though people loved it and it made tons of money initially. Wow that is quite impressive. I saw it yesterday and bought my girlfriend and I tickets to Up because I didn't want to be part of that number. Besides Up kinda deserves it. Really wish we had stayed by the pool, it was a shit show and I would rather be eaten alive by house cats than sit through that again.

I'm going to blame Orci and Kurtzman because they also wrote JJ Abrahms Star Trek, and I found that movie to be just as crappy (and worse, 'plot'-wise) as TF2. Maybe with large doses of Ritalin, these two 'writers' (I use that term loosely) might be able to cobble together a coherent script for Paul Blart 2. Because that's the only shitty franchise they deserve to get their fingers on.

Guess I am more open-minded then most people...oh well. I hope they throw in Hot Rod and Unicron in the sequal....maybe even Thundercracker and Skywarp.......maybe.

I enjoyed the hell out of it. Nuff said. Glad its kicking ass.

I hate that the only argument for people who liked this film is "what were you expecting?"

I did enjoy the explosions and the attractive women. But hell, the plot was pretty shoddy and the racist humor was so bad it destroyed the overall film. I had low expectations, but it was even worse than I thought

C'mon guys...
Why all the hate?? This movie was totally awesome for what it was. Pure action entertainment. Fun for anybody who can appreciate a good action. I mean what were you guys expecting? Shawshank with robots? I agree the story was weak and Megan can't act but who cares?
Awesome CGI, hot chicks, wicked explosions and pretty decent humor. What's there not to like for a no brainer pop corn flic...

This movie isn't bad, just disappointing after the first one. I doubt the movie will have legs, but you knew it would make a lot of money the first week based on the first movie. I expected a fun, dumb action film, but even this was dumber than I expected. And way, way to many failed attempts at humor to cover up the porr story. The action and Optimus are the saving grace for this film.

after peeping tformers at the arclight last night--lemme just say, ALL OF THE INTERNET WHINING IS GETTING OLD-- just because you voice your displeasure doesnt mean shiat, this movie made 60 mill wednesday!!!! plus the dome i was in had the theater in stitches laughing, some people dont roll with the punches (meaning just accepting this cinematic exploit for what it is), AND ONE MORE THING - its...

TF 2 was not a bad movie. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Was the story overly-complex? Sure. Is Megan Fox a horrific actress? Yes. The Twins are being made out to be the second coming of Jar Jar Binks, which is patently untrue. They don't have that much screen time and they are not really that bad. In fact, Wheelie was worse (but still not cringe-inducing). This was definitely a Michael Bay ...

This was definitely a Michael Bay film - I'm guessing if you like Michael Bay (I do) then you have enjoyed the two TF movies...if you don't, then you haven't.

TF 2 is not the end of cinema. It is not "what's wrong with Hollywood". There were 100 movies released this year that are worse than TF 2. Get over yourselves.

This makes me absolutely fear that this will allow a third to be made, and after seeing this wretched POS (my long winded review can be found at the Your Reviews section). I seriously hope that by the weekend this thing sinks like the Titanic. Painfully and with lots of dead folks.
