Strike Back below!
by: Ammon Gilbert Jul. 25, 2009

Hey everyone, still in San Diego and diving into yet another hectic day and evening of drinking and movie coolness at the Comic Con. Last night's Director's Panel with Peter Jackson and James Cameron was one of the cooler panels so far for me, mostly cause the two are movie gods in my book.

Anyway, during the panel, Cameron dropped this little bit of information: he's "dimensionalizing" TITANIC! That is, he's bringing TITANIC back to the big screen in 3D!

While it'll take at least another year of work trying to get it done, he's already done some of it and he says that it looks amazing. But what parts? From what it sounded like, and if it's gonna take a year to do it, I think the ENTIRE movie will be in 3D, even the first half, which is just a mushy romance. And why not? The Titanic itself would be cool in 3D, before, during, and after it sinks! I can't wait!

If you love this new 3D bandwagon, prepare to go berserk when Jack and Kate try to survive the unsinkable ship the second time around... in 3D!

To check out the full panel, head THIS WAY. Now back to the Con.

Extra Tidbit: TITANIC's cool and all, but I think I'd rather see ALIENS in 3D. What about you?

haha James Cameron just wants to make sure Titanic stays on top! TDK came too close last year for his comfort!
I'm down for another screening of Titanic, but, like others, I would prefer Aliens or T2.

Totally lame in all sorts of ways
Really? What an absolute waste of time. Please stop remaking, recutting, and all the other same crap over and over again. Shame on you Cameron.

I'd rather have Aliens or The Terminator.

i have yet to see a movie released in 3d, but i'm not really into seeing Titanic again. once was enough, and i agree with everyone else, James Cameron has a better selection of films to choose from. T2, Aliens, and The Abyss (which i've never even seen and would be terrific to experience in 3d for the first time) were all mentioned below, and in my opinion definitely better choices.

Just the Excuse execs needed
The downside to 3d is the movie execs now have a reason to rehash/remake movies and not bother coming up with original movie ideas, dont get me wrong some movies could be enhanced by 3D but you know they will milk every movie for as much as they can possibly get

The Abyss
I think of all his films The Abyss would be the best one in 3D.

The scene where Ed Harris is being taken through the alien ship would be incredable.

Well, I don't care for 3D, but another opportunity to see the biggest movie in movie history again on the big screen? Always awesome!

Screw this new stuff. You want 3D, try Captain EO. I think Coppola should remaster that. I just don't get these new 3D movies. I honestly don't think it improves my moviegoing experience.

Geez, I remember hearing about this idea a while back. As if Titanic needed to add more to that $600,788,188 domestic total.

That is freaking awesome news. Titanic is one of those movies I would love to see in theaters again (no less, in 3D) - awesome experience the first time around.

3D Kate
It would be nice to see Kate Winslet's lovely boobs in 3D. I'll be reaching out for a virtual squeeze.
