With Stephen Chow mysteriously vanishing from Seth Rogen and Michel Gondry’s GREEN HORNET, they’ve been searching for a replacement Kato ever since. A few names have been tossed around, but now Korean actor Kwon Sang-Woo has emerged as a leading contender. According to Korean film site HanCinema, he recently tried out for the part, and appears to have made a good impression.

“Kwon Sang-woo has received a lovecall from the Hollywood film “Green Hornet” for the character Kato that was supposed to be Stephen Chow’s role…Asia’s star Kwon Sang-woo has been able to break through the language barrier and take part in this film! It is known that Kwon’s English hasn’t been perfect throughout the audition with the main actor Seth Rogen, however, it was successful.”

I’m sure most of you have never heard of Sang-Woo, but over in Korea, he’s like their Robert Pattinson. Well, at least their Taylor Lautner. He’s best known for roles in VOLCANO HIGH and ONCE UPON A TIME IN HIGH SCHOOL and his ass-kicking abilities can be aptly demonstrated in the VOLCANO trailer here.

None of this is official yet, but hopefully they make a decision soon and get this project’s ass in gear.

Extra Tidbit: I was about to suggest Tony Jaa for the part, but without a doubt he’d steal the entire show. Even if Cameron Diaz did the whole movie naked, I’d still be watching him do anti-gravity backflip kicks.

Tony Jaa doesn't wanna go Hollywood just yet
Tony Jaa isn't right for the role- his look is wrong- but his fighting talent fits. This guy's looks the part to a "T" if he can hang with the script and his use his fighting talent for all it's worth that's another story. I think this guy is the better choice. And you'd have language issues with both actors Jaa and this guy are both learning English.

That would actually be okay, since Kato pretty much stole the show in the television program. In fact, I'd be a lot more interested in this flick if Tony Jaa played Kato.
