The long-awaited trailer for Wes Anderson's stop-motion FANTASTIC MR. FOX has finally arrived. We've seen glimpses of the film's visual stylings so far, but this is our first real look at the thing in motion.

It's already eliciting mixed reactions from the JoBlo staff, but I have to say I land on the side of "quirky and charming" rather than "weird and creepy." The animation is significantly choppier than say, CORALINE, and is almost two-dimensional at times, but I don't believe that takes anything away from it, and actually gives the film a style all its own.

Extra Tidbit: George Clooney is Mr. Fox himself. His only other animated work to date? A few barks as Stan's gay dog on "South Park."

Needs more Fox!
As they mentioned in the JoBlo podcast, this should've had Michael J. Fox, Matthew Fox, Jaime Foxx, and Megan Fox.

You can't have a truly FANTASTIC Fox movie without the inclusion of those individuals!

I thought it sounded like Anjelica Huston doing his wife's voice til it said Meryl Streep. Weird. I'll most likely see this though, with some CA green meds before hand ;)

good but could try harder
I applaude the true auteur quirky & old style approach, but it looks a bit too flat, unlike Coraline and AArdwark. + Clooney's voice is too big for a fox.

That was one of the most lifeless trailers I've ever seen. Looks like something that might be enjoyable to only Anderson fans, but I don't see kids enjoying his very underplayed/mute sense of humor.

I like it because it's different, like most Wes Anderson films, but at the same time I can't say I'm all that excited about it.

Something seems odd about the audio. It feels hollow... The animation is choppy... I am not feeling it which is weird because I love Wes Anderson films.

As .. ahem.. Fantastic as this trailer was I highly doubt most people will see this unfortunately. I hope I'm provem wrong though cuz I'm definitely checking this out.

Can't tell..
The stop motion suits the story perfectly, but I'm afraid that Anderson might put to much of his humor style in the film. It works for Bottle Rocket and The Royal Tenenbaums, but I don't know if it'll work for Fox. Could go either way.

Wow! SO much detail and interesting designs. I can confidently say I've never seen an animated movie like this before. So glad that stop-motion is making a big come-back. Hopefully Disney is also going in the right direction with 2D.

I'm not into it. I love Wes Anderson, every single one of his movies are repeat favorites of mine. But this just didn't tickle my fancy. I'm sure the ironic hipsters will turn out in droves though.

wow i am impressed
actually looks like it might be the one wes anderson movie i will completely enjoy from start to finish. This just went from zero interest to can't wait for it. Voices and animation: spot on.

looks fantabulous!
