Disney was wary about greenlighting the next C.S. Lewis book in the Narnia series, as PRINCE CASPIAN failed to be a box office smash. But these new shots from the folks at Cinefools show that Fox is confident about the going full steam ahead with THE VOYAGE OF THE DAWN TREADER after they picked up the project that had been left in the dust.

The spy shots show the ship itself being built, and in the first pic with the crane in it, you can get a sense of the scale of the thing, and it’s massive. Looks like the film won’t be skimping on the budget, despite any financial missteps CASPIAN made. There are four more books to go, but I’m willing to bet Disney doesn’t make it through all of them. Narnia just isn’t that hip with the kids these days with their shirtless vampires and budding wizards and what not.

Click through the pics to see a few more. DAWN TREADER hits Christmas 2010.

Extra Tidbit: I'm never going to be able to see Peter (William Moseley) the same way after I watched his clone (David Kross) have sex with Kate Winslet for two hours in THE READER

Disney moved it to the summer blockbuster months when it was never a blockbuster franchise. I hope Fox is smart and keep it for the Christmas holidays where it will do much better.

That was David Kross in The Reader. William Moseley is Peter in Narnia.

I liked the first 2 Narnia movies, so I'm glad to see more are getting made. I doubt all 7 books will get made, but it would be cool if they did.

Actually, Fox picked up the project earlier this year after Disney chose not to greenlight it.
