Man, do I ever love getting my movie news items 140 characters at a time. In case that's too annoying for you, and you're not following Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld on Twitter, let me sum up a recent tweet string about his meeting with X-movie guru Lauren Schuler Donner.

"Walking into Deadpool movie meeting!!! Yowza!

Deadpool movie checklist- DP in costume-check! Breaking 4th wall-check! Loads of killing-double check!

Deadpool movie- YES! Ryan Reynolds is on board!!!

Also excited to discuss possibilities of Cable in future X-films!!!"

Alright, so despite the character limit, that’s a hell of a lot of good info. All the pieces would SEEM to be in place for a good DEADPOOL flick, including mask-wearing, wall-breaking, mass-killing and of course Reynolds-casting, which I still maintain is one of the best superhero-actor pairings in years.

I’m also excited to hear that Cable might be coming to the big screen at some future date, as he was one of my favorite action figures comic characters growing up. But what exactly would he be appearing in? Not FIRST CLASS or MAGNETO, so is this possibly a whiff of X4?

The son of Scott Summers aka Cyclops! I remember reading the comic as a kid. Set up the story in the future and bring him into past.

It doesn't really matter if it's R, PG, or PG-13 this project was doomed once that no talent hack jumped on board. I have no idea why people are backing him, not only will he screw up DP but now he's signed up to screw up GL.

Good luck to the rest of the comic fans and here's hoping he's career dies soon.

Donner has talked about a possible X4 movie but has yet to pitch the story to the studio, I really hope they make X4, it's where the audience's intrest is in, not on spin-offs or reboots, I say they continue the franchise!

Cable's history is a bit convoluted: first he is the son of Scott Summers and Madelyne Pryor, a clone of Jean Grey. Then he got sent to the future and became a warrior in the war against the villain Apocalypse. Of course he was originally just somebody that Rob Liefeld drew to look cool. So what version will we get? The son of Scott Summers from an alternative timeline in which he lived? A...

X3, Wolverine, Daredevil, Elektra, Fantastic Four 1 & 2, Die Hard 4, Hitman, Max Payne, Day the Earth stood still, and on and on.... this studio takes potentially great stuff and fucks it up. so how does anyone have any hope for any film from these guys?

Exactly. That's what bugs me...how can anyone have any optimism for this flick when Fox's resume alone stinks of grade A horseshit? PG13 alone is a major turnoff...let's not even get to the point about Fox.

It's Fox, and it's a superhero movie, so you know damned well they're going to neuter it into PG-13 oblivion. I'm tenatively excited for this film, but worried because of Fox's involvement. Wolverine sounded pretty spiffy too until it launched...

As long as Reynolds is back, I'm down with this. He played his short time as Wade pretty much perfectly.

I agree that casting Reynolds as Deadpool was spot on, which makes me aggravated that he's now also playing Green Lantern. Yes, I know he already played a comic book character in Blade 3, and I know people say he can do Deadpool and GL, but even lesser-known comic characters are fairly iconic (to a degree) and it just doesn't seem right to to me to have the same actor play multiple comic chara...

Seriously, who really cares what Liefeld thinks about the Deadpool movie? The fact that he is involved just furthers the suckage factor. Hands down, among conversations with friends, Rob Liefeld's material is garbage. Was at the comic store the other day, and saw his graphic novel 'Armagedon'? It was so bad, that they stuck it on the sale rack for .99!!! So, what does that tell you??

I'm sorry but it's just hard being optimistic about any of this. Didn't anyone see how Wolverine turned out? Exactly. Deadpool's gonna' be almost the same only a bit more fun because Ryan Reynolds has that mouth of his. Otherwise it's just gonna' be another cash-cow made to make bank and sell action figures. It'll be a miracle if they can actually do this right.

Deadpool and Cable are a team
That's why he mentioned it, because Cable and Deadpool have shared a comic series for years with Cable playing the Dino to Deadpool's Jerry Lewis. Cable's strait-man would make a great addition to the (hopefully violent) chemistry of a Deadpool movie.

please god make it an R
so far from what i see and hear of deadpool, i have thought as ok ( NOT the origins no mouth version) so i'll go see it. but it beter be rated R. im SO sick of them making moves fit for everone and so denude the character of alot of their traits and quarks. -- maybe its time for a new rating? like PG16? then maybe we can get a little more substance while the companys get to sell a few more tick...
