Rogen on Simpsons

We've been hearing about Seth Rogen's role as a writer on "The Simpsons" for over a year now and finally this Sunday we get to see his creation. Rogen's episode will open the 21st season for "The Simpsons" and was written by Evan Goldberg and Rogen, who will also voice a character in the episode. The episode follows a new superhero (created by Comic Book Guy) whose exploits are turned into a movie with Homer cast as the lead role. In order to get into shape he's assigned a trainer (Rogen) who does everything he can to get Homer to slim down.

If it sounds familiar, it might be because it's not the first time a "Simpsons" episode has dealt with a character being cast in a superhero movie (see "Radioactive Man"). If it sounds familiar for another reason, it's because it follows Rogen's own travails getting into shape for THE GREEN HORNET. "I had to lose weight and do a lot of physical training. It seemed hilarious to us as it was happening," says Rogen. "The Simpsons" premieres this Sunday at 8pm on Fox.

Extra Tidbit: Rogen and Ricky Gervais are the only people outside of the show's staff to write a script for an episode.

I really hope it's funny, 'cause if not then this might be the beginning of the well running dry for Rogen. And I'm saying that as a fan.

sweet cant f--ing wait for this! been watching simpsons for 21 years now? wow and I still love every minute of it. South Park and simpsons are still two of the best shows on tv.

I'm still with it. I don't manage to catch any Sunday's new episode but my love for this show has never faltered and will never die.

It still remains my favourite TV show of all-time. Granted, since about Season 14, the quality of the classic seasons is rarely met, but I still dig it.

agreed with nickdoll. I watched the simpsons every night for 2 episodes on FOX 5 or so years ago.... then it just got.... old and overplayed.

Ricky Gervais wrote an ep? Seth and Evan have now? Those are like my favorite writers. Still... not sure I can bring myself to watch the Simpsons which has really become repetitive as shit (there is such a thing as running too long). Don't get me wrong, I used to LOVE the Simpsons and own seasons 4-11 on DVD, but there's a point where it is just... not... funny anymore.

It's sadly true...
The later Simpson episodes have their spare laughs every other episode. But recently they've resorted to becoming a really animated show. During an episode where Grandpa becomes a matador, Lisa and Grandpa are sitting on flying lawn chairs held up by helium balloons to escape - where they came from, no one knows. Needless to say the bulls then catch up to them, because they, too, have helium ba...

The Simpsons STILL HILARIOUS
The Simpsons is still one of the funniest shows on television. Those who think it's not, haven't watched it in years, so they aren't really judging it fairly. I hope it goes on to be the longest running show EVER. This and Married With Children are my favorite sitcoms of all time.

There was this kid that would rip on the awfulness of The Simpsons at class every single week. One day, he came in with his writing assignment script that was an EXACT duplicate of a Simpsons episode opening storyline (where Bart starts digging a hole to China). so true. i hate film snobs, its the same in music and in comics. if i buy a x-men comic in one store they act like i'm a douche cuz its not an independant book. F them, they just act that way cuz its popular and its their way of trying to seem cool and "with it" i hate the snobs of entertainment.

As a film major, I DEFINITELY have to agree with you guys. This one annoying couple in my program has a hard-on for Wes Anderson. I despise those who falsely hate mainstream stuff just for the sake of being pretentious.

i haven't watched the simpsons in years. i remember mid to late nineties...they were hilarious. not really all that funny now IMO
