It's strange that we haven't already posted about Roman Polanski's recent arrest. The Swiss police finally captured Polanski who had been on the run since 1977 after apparently raping and drugging a 13 year old girl at the home of Jack Nicholson.

Now that we've got that out of the way, Brett Ratner is producing a sequel to WANTED AND DESIRED, which talked about the case in meticulous detail. Ratner says that Polanski never saw the original, "Roman had nothing to do with that movie. He didn’t even see the movie. Marina (Zenovich) screened the movie at my house. And I invited Roman’s friends. Like Bob Evans and Warren Beatty. A bunch of his friends came to see the movie before Roman even saw it. Because he didn’t want to sway anyone’s opinion. He wanted it to be an honest depiction of what happened."

Marina asked Ratner to produce the film with Polanski possibly appearing in the project. “Because now it’s really more about the outcome of what’s happened since, Roman has agreed to participate," says Ratner. This of course is to be determined depending upon if the director is free to do so or not.

We also just found out that filmmakers: Woody Allen, Pedro Almodovar and Martin Scorsese are amongst many who are demanding the release of Polanski. There was 138 people in the film industry who signed a petition against his arrest. "The arrest of Roman Polanski in a neutral country, where he assumed he could travel without hindrance ... opens the way for actions of which no one can know the effects," reads the document that Monica Bellucci, Tilda Swinton, directors David Lynch, Jonathan Demme, John Landis, and many more signed. To read more on this check it out here.

Extra Tidbit: To add to the bizarro shit: Ratner's paraplegic sex encounter! No video.

So I wonder will the film show the anal rape of a 13 year old girl? That's what he did, and plead guily to it, then fled the country, which is also illegal. I can't say I am shocked that Woody Allen supports him. Since Woody Allen is married to his stepdaughter, who he molested as a small girl.

Okay, yeah, this was bound to happen if the man didn't die first. I'm a fan, and Ratner considers himself a filmmaker even if we don't.

I've yet to see the documentary but it is on my Netflix list. I've always thought Polanski is one of the most fascinating stories out there. Holocaust survivor married Sharon Tate who was murdered by the Manson Family and then flees adoptive country after statutory rape charges.

I've always been torn about the charges, because I consider him one of the better filmmakers of the past fifty years.

It makes me sad...
It makes me sad to know that Brett Ratner is even allowed in the same circles as Robert Evans, Warren Beatty, and Polanski...very sad.

I know this is a crappy movie site, which I frequent daily, and not a law site. But he "apparently" raped her? Nope. He pleaded guilty to raping a child. So he "definitely" raped and drugged that girl.

According to the record, he pleaded guilty to the lesser charge because the judge offered to drop all the other charges and give him time served. Then after he caught wind that the judge was changing his mind and adding more time he fled the country.

Even his "victim" wants the charges dropped and she's got to be in her 50's now.

About time
It's about time he was caught to be fair. Old guys get picked up for crimes they did in the 50s and such based on new DNA evidence. No-one leaps to their defence. Being a media figure does not make you immune and I find it SICKENING that he gets support from his peers. "Oh, that Roman. Up to his old tricks. He's such a hoot. Raping and drugging a child and then fleeing...oh. We love him so." An...

It is.But it doesn't give you a "drug and rape a child card" good for one use. Anyone who sides with this perp needs a heat seeker bullet courtesy of a Lawgiver.

Is anyone at all surprised that Woody Allen thinks Polanski should be released?

I was thinking the same thing when it was first reported also. It's almost like the South Park episode when Butters was reported 'missing' and the Ramseys show up to show their support.

Polanski belongs in jail. It’s about time some country had the balls to arrest and extradite this admitted and convicted pedophile!
And don’t tell me that we should be forgiving and that it happened 32 years ago and that it’s in the past. WRONG! It could have been in his past had he showed up to his sentencing and served his time. Yes, then it would have been his past and nobody would be...

It could have been in his past had he showed up to his sentencing and served his time. Yes, then it would have been his past and nobody would be talking about it. But he chose to run and become a fugitive.
“Oh, but BIGE1312 he makes award winning movies.”
The man admitted to drugging and rapping a 13 year old girl! Put his ass in jail!

Very well put. I adore some of Polanski's films but that doesn't change what he did, and you're right, if he had been a man about it and owned up to his actions in the first place it'd all be over with by now.

Wholeheartedly agree with you! I don't care how good of movies ANYONE makes, you do something like Polanski did, you pay for it.

What's funny is...
Didn't Polanski have a cameo in Ratner's rush hour 3?

What is it with Ratner and sequels? X-men 3, Red Dragon, the Rush Hour sequels, now a sequel to a documentary. Nothing original.
