Well, if you weren't interested in the first SIMPSONS movie, then it's likely that you won't have to deal with another.

Creator of the yellow race Matt Groening and writer/producer Al Jean were doing an interview with Morgan Spurlock discussing the future of THE SIMPSONS. Groening had this to say on a sequel, "It took 18 years to get around to doing the movie. We got very frustrated. We thought it would take two years but it ended up taking four. Some day maybe we'll do another one -- but don't hold your breath."

This may be good news for some of you. I got the feeling that overall fans weren't too impressed with the film. It fell a little flat for me, but when you've been trying to create material for over 20 years it's bound to happen. As of late I cannot get back into Springfield, but it's likely to continue until, well, who knows when. Both Groening and Jean talked about their amazement about the series still being on television, "We cannot predict the end because we can't believe we are still here today," says Groening. Jean added, "We are contracted to do two more seasons following this one. I gave up predicting the end a long time ago."

Frankly, I'm also still surprised that it's on the air, but people still really enjoy the show. The guest stars really contribute to the success as well. I think everyone has a little spot in their heart for the dysfunctional family, regardless of whether they enjoyed the movie or not.

Extra Tidbit: Favorite SIMPSONS episode? All the TREEHOUSE OF HORROR ones for me, as well as any episode that Ralph has more than 2 lines.

Sometimes, Hollywood's method just completely fails at the most obvious things. Take that giant shark movie that people have been trying to get off the ground for the past twelve years. You'd think a giant shark movie would be obvious, in the bag, and on screen within two years of being suggested.

In turn, the Simpsons should be on their third or forth film, not second-guessing...

Ridiculous

I think my favorite character is chief Wiggum, that cop dude is hilarious, I thought the movie was ok, and I've been a fan of the show since the begining and would really hate to see this come to an end, I say they continue it as long as they can.

i haven't enjoyed the simpsons since 1997, but i really, really liked the movie, much to my surprise. wouldn't mind a sequel, but won't die if there isn't one either.

Forget a sequel
Let's just reboot the first one.

(I hope everyone knows to read this as sarcasm...)

I still think
We'll see a Simpsons 2 sooner rather than later. This is probably Matt Groening testing the waters. But the Simpsons Ratings are on the rise. And There would not be a FOX channel without The Simpsons. Simple Fact. They can do whatever they want for as long as FOX exists.

They should have canned The Simpsons and put absolutely all of their work and talent into Futurama from the get-go. We'd then have a superior show still airing regularly on tv, rather than waiting for some movies and hoping they don't have to recast the relaunch of the show.

good news regardless of your opinion of the simpsons
if the creative force behind a potential movie says there isn't going to be a movie because there is a lack of motivation - which is what I read from this - that's a good thing. It's better than hearing a yes that is code for "they threw a bunch of money at us, so we'll grind something out".

I'm of the camp that Adult Swim has eclipsed Fox cartoons entire, and that when it does ...

I'm of the camp that Adult Swim has eclipsed Fox cartoons entire, and that when it does come to Fox, Family Guy has taken the mantle from the Simpsons (Family Guy may try harder to be funny than it used to, but I'd say it IS funnier. I won't reward effortlessness if the results aren't there Tastelessness aside, the visual gags and timing in Family Guy hold up to any other animation on TV).

I grew up watching the first seasons of the Simpsons in high school, and even though they are long past their peak - they deserve respect for what they accomplished, and their influence in the genre.

Besides - shouldn't we all be fighting for a Venture Bros. feature film. I just say the Season 4 trailer and it looks fucking ARSESOME.

I'm a little disappointed. Since the movie WAS essentially a drawn-out show with too few appearances by other Springfield favorites, it was still fun in that way only the Simpsons can be.

I don't watch the show religiously, but when I come across it, I feel obliged to watch.

While I agree that THE SIMPSONS MOVIE was produced a decade later than it should've, it was still a funny movie. It did take advantage of certain things that Greoning & Co. couldn't do on TV like animate the movie in widescreen, have Marge curse, or have Bart show his wee-wee. I still like the show even though I don't watch it as much on TV as I used to, but i do own all the available seasons...

I hope that people who grow out of the overblown McFarlane craze will realize that the SIMPSONS writers put some thought into their humor as opposed to relying on too many cheap pop-culture references.

If the Simpsons go off the air...
Seth Mcfarlane will finally epitomize "animation domination". I realize the simpsons have gotta end sometime, and probably should soon, but with the quality of the other FOX cartoons, I fear for the near future of Sunday night television...

Family Guys sucks and any show that spins off from it sucks as well. Family Guy was funny.....before it got cancelled. Now the show tries to hard to be funny.

I stopped watching the Simpsons along time ago when it stopped being funny. But the movie was really well done, imo. If they can get a good story going for the movie, I'm in!

i think after 2 decades, they need to start packin it in and calling it quits. i love the show but everythings gotta end someday and it hasnt been real funny in a long time. i think it would be smart to end the series with a second movie, go out with a bang

Both the movie and the last few seasons
could have been better, but even at their worst they are still better than a whole lot of other shit that's clogging the pipeline right now.

And one of my favorite episodes might be from a few seasons ago, "Springfield Up". That whole episode is Quote City.

Good News that there is no Movie
Don't get me wrong, the Simpsons was great. I love seasons 2-14. It's not even that the writing is bad now or anything, the concept is simply played out. It really needs to end.

I really enjoyed the movie, but the show has been bad for a few seasons. If there is no movie, maybe they can focus on making the show better.

I liked the movie. But it didn't feel like a film-just an extra-long episode of the show. It wasn't like the South Park movie, where it really felt theatrical. I hold The Simpsons very dear to my heart, but that show just isn't relevant anymore.

Simpsons is at the point in it's career where it doesn't matter if they are good or not. It's fine if every episode isn't great, just as long as there is a few jems a season, people will still tune in. Especially the original fans.

I will predict Simpsons will continue until they reach the 30 yr mark. They can do it no prob. ANd FOX would be idiots to let that show go.
