While I'm not sold on a full length MACGRUBER, a character named Cunth is rather great. The film is being directed and written by Jorma Taccone, who is part of "The Lonely Island" and is 'on a f*cking boat' (or not).

The synopsis that was released made me giggle a bit, but probably because I'm easily amused. Check it out:

Only one American hero has earned the rank of Green Beret, Navy SEAL and Army Ranger. Just one operative has been awarded 16 purple hearts, 3 Congressional Medals of Honor and 7 presidential medals of bravery. And only one guy is man enough to still sport a mullet.

In the 10 years since his fiancée was killed, special op MacGruber has sworn off a life of fighting crime with his bare hands. But when he learns that his country needs him to find a nuclear warhead that’s been stolen by his sworn enemy, Dieter Von Cunth (Val Kilmer), MacGruber figures he’s the only one tough enough for the job.

Assembling an elite team of experts-Lt. Dixon Piper (Ryan Phillippe) and Vicki St. Elmo (Kristen Wiig)-MacGruber will navigate an army of assassins to hunt down Cunth and bring him to justice. His methods may be unorthodox. His crime scenes may get messy. But if you want the world saved right, you call in MacGruber.

As I've said before, I liked SNL movies of past: WAYNE'S WORLD (both), CONEHEADS, and even NIGHT AT THE ROXBURY. I've watch some of the GRUBER sketches and I wasn't really laughing too much at them. Maybe the film will be surprisingly great, or maybe it won't. Either way, Cunth just made my day.

Extra Tidbit: Speaking of Val Kilmer, you guys give him a lot of shit.

I'm with Obmulap
If this was a Naked Gun/Airplane type film, I'd be down. Sadly, I feel this is going to be a typical SNL film with hints of Charlie's Angels. I think the MacGruber skits are okay, but not film worthy.

I think if they play this movie along the lines of a "Naked Gun" type then it might stand a chance.

Val Kilmer
If anyone can make this movie tolerable it is Val. I think Shia should reprise his role as MacGruber's gay son though ...

Von Cunth and St.Elmo - funny characters' names. They've got to include the MacGruber theme from the skit. They have to!!

I just wanna see Kilmer chew scenery. Are they gonna squeeze in Richard Dean Anderson like in some of the skits? It might be a bed idea but a worthy question.

Val Kilmer gets shit solely because he's pretty much a whore of the industry signing onto whatever seems to drift his way. And I hear he's a bit hard for some to work with. But for me no matter what that dude has the cred t...

Val Kilmer gets shit solely because he's pretty much a whore of the industry signing onto whatever seems to drift his way. And I hear he's a bit hard for some to work with. But for me no matter what that dude has the cred to still pull off some amazing work, even if he does make a few visits to the Direct-to-DVD bin.

I'm glad they seem to be ditching the "give me a loan with a fixed interest rate to help disarm this bomb" style with a real plot...

The Brady Bunch Movies?
The Brady Bunch Movies were not SNL movies.

However, I do agree, that I've liked a lot of the SNL movies in the past. Of course, a lot of them are also shit.

No worries. Gary Cole does appear in a lot of movies with Will Ferrell nowadays, so I could see the confusion.

Shit your right. I tend to lump them in that category as the film almost seems like a SNL sketch.

"...Jorma Taccone, who is part of "The Lonely Island" and is 'on a f*cking boat'."

Taccone was the one who got jipped for T-Pain. The only one not on the f*cking boat.
