Back when PRINCE OF PERSIA creator Jordan Mechner and writer/producer John August were looking to pitch a film version to studios, they had a tough time convincing them that the games could translate to a film. So instead of a verbal pitch or one with storyboards, they did something a little more dynamic. They went into the game and edited out cut sequences to show what the game could bring to a movie.

They toned down the mysticism in the game (no freezing, no sand monsters) and instead focused on the kinds of things movie producers like to hear: adventure, action and romance. In about a week in 2003 Mechner cut a "pitch trailer" from the PS2 copy of the film and, obviously, Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer bit. Mechner made the pitch trailer available and now you can see that vision of the film is and how that may translate to what you see on screen when the film is released.

Extra Tidbit: I think we should try the same thing with "Legend of Zelda"...

Not seeing it
Not really seeing the cinematic qualities of that trailer but I guess I'm not a multi-million dollar producer so...I still think it will suck.

for the extra tidbit...
IGN.com did an April Fools joke awhile back where they made a mockup trailer for a Legend of Zelda movie. Complete with live actors and special effects. Besides the guy playing Link, it was actually a really good trailer that would look really cool if they actually made it. Look it up, it's something worth watching.

I'm with JDFunari on this, this just seems like a simple game trailer. Nothing more. I can see why he did this though, it's more fun to watch than storyboards and it gives a clear indication of the vision he wants on screen if Bruckheimer was unfamiliar with the subject matter but it's kinda old news to those who have played the game. I really want this movie to work, it's been too long since we had a good old fashioned adventure movie. Fingers crossed.

Pitch?
This is just a montage of video game scenes. They didn't even bother cutting it like a trailer or adding cards to explain the story.

Don't know if I missed a piece of PoP news regarding this, but let me just say the movie will have wasted so much potential if they cut out the dagger's powers.

LOVED this game when it came out a few years ago. I'm excited for even though I have a feeling the studios might target the younger crowd. It's gonna be packed with "bullet time", here's to hoping they don't over do it.
