BLADE director, Stephen Norrington, has finally spit out a script for his completely necessary remake of THE CROW, and according to sources it's being "very well received" by the folks at Relativity Media, so much so that they’re allegedly starting to move into the casting phase of the project.

The script is said to be a “revamp” not a “remake” so interpret that how you will, though it can be assumed this means we’ll have a different titular character than Brandon Lee’s Eric Draven. But the real question here I believe, is what rating the director and studio will shoot for. Obviously, if this film has to be made, we’d all like to see a hard R, but with swarms of emo teenagers filling our streets these days, I can easily see a PG-13 flick marketed directly toward them and their tortured souls.

Is this even remotely a good idea? I mean, lord knows I appreciated the original film for all of its batshit insanity, as well as Norrington’s hyper-stylish BLADE, but I just don’t think this is a franchise that needs to rise from the dead, no pun intended. Do you?

Well every installment of the Crow franchise focuses on a different character, so i suppose it's only a "revamp" because they want to use "The Crow" name without any cheesy subtitle. I'll wait for more info on this i guess...

Alex Proyas is the magic behind The Crow. This is probably just gonna be another horrible installment in the series.

Something about the 90s
Only in the 80s and 90s could a lean hero brood about town shirtless and still look bad ass, rather than fruity (except He-Man in that torrid movie). I think these days, our shirtless heroes cater far too much too the swooning female audience, which is fine for numbers, but alienates the hell out of most of the male audience. I want Draven to look cool as hell, and not overly sexualized, but I ...

One of the great things about the Crow mythology is that it could be reinterpreted over and over. That being said - quit with the fucking money grab.

Unless this film is about Eric Draven and T-Bird and the rest of the crew, it's not a remake. The ideology behind the Crow allows for a re-hashed plot, as long as the lead character is different. Here's hoping by "revamp" they mean, "not direct-2-dvd bullshit."

Do you folks not realize that the words "remake" and "revamp" are the same thing. Did you not go to school at all you dufus. Look it up, they're pretty much identical. This film deserves to be left alone. It's fine the way it is. It's like saying that someone is gonna "revamp" Star Wars and have Zac Efron play the lead. This is ludicrous, and it's not gonna fly either. if it does get made, I'm ...

I"m 31....
I'm 31 and remember being in junior high and rushong to this movie when it came out. Looking back I feel we were robbed of Brandon Lee at a young age and The CRow was a great movie showcasing his acting and martial arts techniques. It would have to be a revamp not to disrespect the memory of a fallen star, and I highly recommend watching this version even when the new on reaches the theaters.

Not to disagree too much, but I think the franchise was ruined the moment they decided it needed a sequel (how many are there?).

Why do people insist on using reboot and remake when this just as easily could be called sequel since Eric Draven is uninvolved.

could be good
This will be good if we get the Norrington that brought us the first blade film, not the LXG one. The first blade was dark, violent and stylistically beautiful. This could be a good project for him to get back to those dark roots. I would love to see him bring those kinds of visuals to the world of the Crow.

"BLADE director, Stephen Norrington, has finally spit out a script for his completely necessary remake of THE CROW..."

seems to me like you meant to say "completely UNNECESSARY". as for me i'd much rather see them just rerelease the original. apart from a few minor quibbles it still holds up really well. i can see this movie sadly being given a "twilight" sort of treatment.

I will never understand why there needs to be remakes of films in a series. I'm not saying that sequels are better. I would just rather that then messing with the original only to have it look nothing like its forefather.

Can't wait!
I love the original crow, it's great, hasn't aged well so far, but still love it. That said, anyone bitching about this flick needs to cool it. Each shitty sequel they released so far has essentially been a remake of the first. If they can make a quality film with and reinterpret the source material properly, we'd all be in for a treat. So I'll waste my breath asking simply that they don't fuck...

Hm...
I have never seen the original, so I don't really care about this, but I thought it was humorous that you said Blade was super-stylish, cause I think any movie with little winged monkey skeletons climbing out the the mouths of regular skeletons (which then explode) doesn't deserve to be referred to as such.

But I guess that's just me.

First off, this is a film that still holds up well after 15 some odd years.

This is another example of hollywood being completely lazy. I'm positive this is simply an easy merchandising and future sequels decision more than it "needing" to be remade.

Its just unnecessary...

No Brandon Lee?
I don't think all remakes are a bad idea, but this one is terrible. The Crow is a simple revenge tale. What made the film was a mixture of Brandon Lee's performance, his death, and the soundtrack. People have "revamped" The Crow with the sequels that try to retell the tale with another character. They're terrible movies. Revenge movies need another element. People have "revamped" The Crow with the sequels that try to retell the tale with another character. They're terrible movies. Revenge movies need another element. Kill Bill for instance is more about the style of the film than the actual revenge itself. It also has a unique twist in that Bill is the father of her child. In The Crow, a Crow just enables a person to come back from the dead to kill other people. The core concept isn't nearly as great as you may believe it to be. Leave well enough alone, if for no other reason than respect for the dead.

i'm a huge fan of the crow. the graphic novel is brilliant and the first film was pretty good, not brilliant...a little too stylish for my taste. i am also a huge fan of brandon lee and thought he was great in that film and would loved to have seen what would've become of him.

i have often thought that a "remake" would be a great idea, especially if they stuck a little more to the comic and made it more gritty instead of MTV video-like. i see the crow as a gothic-horror story and not a shoot 'em up action flick.

Gothic horror story? not a shoot em up?? Maybe you should re-read the graphic novel again and maybe even the movie, apparently it's been awhile.
