Update: The studio wants you to know this trailer was NOT intended to be a "new" trailer, rather it's merely "extended" as the folks at Spike TV tacked on the five seconds of new Hatter footage you see at the beginning. Just wanted to clear that up.

In case you missed Spike TV's Scream Awards last night (which I assume is all of you), here’s the "new" ALICE IN WONDERLAND trailer they debuted during the show. I use the term "new" loosely here, as there’s really only a slight bit of new footage featuring Johnny Depp as the Hatter, but that’s more than enough for some people I imagine.

I’m still split on how this will turn out. At the time, a CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY remake with Burton and Depp seemed like a great idea, but the final result was decidedly unmemorable. Hopefully that will not be the case this time around, but I don’t have as much faith in Burton as I used to.

Extra Tidbit: What's that giant abominable snowman looking thing there? I don't remember that part of the book.

Looks good. Depp may be the most theatrically talented guy on the planet.

I sure hope that CGI is going to look better than that by the time the movie comes out. Otherwise this one may go in the increasingly long list of good movies ruined by CGI.

I haven't seen it since it came out but I really liked Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, more so than Sweeney Todd.

I'm confident this can be better than both of them.

DANG.
i was expecting this to be a nightmarish alice in wonderland. despite the art direction (i bet concept drawings were great), the cinematography makes this look like disney tried to make a "friendlier" film out of a potentially disturbing one.
too bad

Personally, I though Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was really good. Not as dimly lit as much of Burton's work, but then I always had trouble with the Gene Wilder one.

Jaberwocky
I would guess that the giant abonimable snowman looking creature is the jaberwocky from the book. It's not how I imagined it from the book, but I don't have Burton's f'ed up view of things.

I just don't know...
I'm honestly getting a little weary with Burton's style. And I really am hating Depp's look-I think it's completely ridiculous. Who knows, though, maybe I'll wind up really liking it.

I'm Psyched?
I LOVE Tim Burton movies and I know that this movie will be pretty decent. Still, am I the only one who thinks that this movie would've scared the SHIT out of me if I was a kid? The Mad Hatter is even SCARIER than MJ Depp in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Btw I actually liked Chocolate... if there was a way to make mix of both and FLUIDLY make it make sense... it'd be the perfect movie. There's more redeemable in Chocolate than you think. Watch it again and try to find stuff you like...it's there.

Burton's Alice
I agree about CHARLIE I had such high expectations and only ended falling way flat, then came Sweeney Todd and blew my mind away, I have a feeling Alice will be a mix of the two, I mean... it is a Disney movie so it'll probably be a bit toned down, still I can't wait.

Love it
I'm really liking the overall look and fell of this movie. Personally I think Burton is one of the best director's with the most unique vision of them all. Except for CHARLIE/CHOCOFACTORY, that was a mess.

The only thing I wish they would have done is make Chesire Cat with a stuffed body and CGI face like WTWTA. But other than that, I think this film will be fine.

Wow, so one new shot of Depp and the end of the first teaser is switched to the beginning. Not sure this qualifies as "new"...

Slow news day, Joblo?

I've been a Tim Burton fan for my entire life. I was born in 1985, the year that Pee-Wee's Big Adventure came out, and I've loved every movie that Tim Burton has ever made. In my opinion, he's never made a bad movie. Even the movies that the general public would say are bad (i.e. Planet of the Apes or Mars Attacks), I've enjoyed. Mars Attacks is actually pretty funny, and I thought his version of POTA was really well-done. (Come on! Tim Roth LITERALLY going apeshit? Awesome.) So I'm pretty excited for this movie. I know that doesn't really contribute that much to the discussion, but that's all I have to say on the matter.

Sometimes, I think I am the only guy on the world to love Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (for Danny Elfman's score, it's true) and Sweeney Todd.
Corpse Bride, ehhh.. Not.

But I'm a little bit affraid about this really weird "Alice".

No No No! I loved Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Especially because of Elfman and the fact they use the real songs. I mean Gene will always be Willy Wonka but I still love the Burton version.
