Strike Back below!
by: Dave Davis Oct. 31, 2009

Filmmaker Robert Zemeckis has done more than drop hints about possibly bringing ROGER RABBIT (and his busty bride) back to screens.

A few months ago, he mentioned using the latest digital tools and performance capture to assist in crafting a sequel to WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT (don't worry, the spastic bunny and his associates will still be done in old-school 2D animation).

Now MTV got word straight from Zemeckis that a script is being worked on... and it should have the sensibilities of the first classic, since it's being penned by the original movie's screenwriters Jeffrey Price and Peter Seaman.

While we don't know what twists and turns they'll take in Toontown, it's probably safe to assume that all the previous plans for sequels (ROGER RABBIT AND THE TOON PLATOON, WHO DISCOVERED ROGER RABBIT) and author Gary Wolf's follow-up novel will be ignored.

Extra Tidbit: Yes, that's the exquisite Jessica Biel dressed as Jessica Rabbit. One item checked off the fantasy list...

If this happens...
My biggest hope is that they bring back Bob Hoskins as Eddie Valiant.

Who Married Roger Rabbit
This was the title of a proposed sequel back in the day. Obviously it never happened, much like the similarly titled and discarded Beetlejuice sequel, Beetlejuice In Love.

This is a sequel I am officially pumped for. Roger Rabbit was one of my favorite movies ever as a child and it's still a damn good movie as an adult.

wow
Can you imagine what they can do with all the new charcters we've fallen in love with since the first film???? Disney? Dreamworks? PIXAR! It would be soo dope if the original cartoons go onstrike over all the jobs the CG characters are getting these days!

I hope they don't kid it down into generic kids movie like 90% of them today!!!

Here's What I Want to See
The original had Bugs Bunny (Warner Bros.) and Mickey Mouse (Disney) literally side-by-side. That has to be a mess of licensing rights. How will that work today with so many lines drawn in the sand?

An awesome way to start Halloween, Mr. Davis. This excites me almost as much as TOY STORY 3. And quit avoiding the podcast - it is your destiny.

I'd love to see what Roger thinks of Woody and Buzz, but at the same time, there's so much material between the 30s and now to draw from...they'd be fools to simply skip to the modern era.

I am glad that if they have to do this, they are at least bringing the original writers back, and I would like to see them take on the second book.

could be great if they decide to lampoon modern 3d animation in the same way the original satirized (and darkened up) classic 2d animation. i more or less hate zemeckis (most of his work is utter shit except the billiant roger rabbit and the decent back to the future films) but given his pedigree as one of the forerunners of motion capture 3d animation, this could be a perfect fit. maybe roge...

(no no wait spare the monster house gang...)
