Warner Bros. has picked up the spec comedy script DIRTY OLD MEN with hopes of reuniting the BUCKET LIST team of Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson to star. As of now, only Freeman is attached to the film with Nicholson not yet committing (he is reportedly "aware" of the film). The script, written by Josh Cagan and Greg Coolidge, is described as a WEDDING CRASHERS type comedy about aging playboys, one of whom meets his true love. His best friend (Freeman) isn't ready to give in quite so easily and spends his time trying to break up the couple.

Pete Segal, who last directed GET SMART for WB, is attached to direct and the hope is that he can convince Nicholson, his ANGER MANAGEMENT star, to join Freeman in the film. Nicholson recently wrapped production on James Brooks' upcoming untitled film and hasn't yet decided on his next project. Freeman has INVICTUS due this December and will begin filming on the action/thriller RED with Bruce Willis early in 2010.

Extra Tidbit: Segal is also attached to direct a live-action JETSONS film.

This could work. Be nice to see to see Freeman stretch into something like this and be goofy.

That sounds like a major miscast for Freeman.

Clint Eastwood instead!!!
I got a lot of love for Nicholson, just like the next guy, but I think this would be a lot more interesting project if they got Eastwood to play the other role. Don't know how he'd feel about doing a film he's not also directing, but still. That'd be a movie I'd much rather see.

I'll definitely watch this. I'd watch a documentary of paint drying if Morgan Freeman was there to narrate it or stare at it with the audience.

What?
"His best friend (Freeman) isn't ready to give in"......WHAT?? No offense but what sense does that make? These characters are obvioulsy old, and Freeman's character isnt READY to give in yet?? C'mon.....sounds crazy. But even with my comment, I'll see this if Jack signs on for sure.
