The wait is over, the trailer for PRINCE OF PERSIA: SANDS OF TIME is here.

I've gotta say, the movie is looking pretty decent. The only thing that was really bothersome to me was Gemma Arterton's narration. Initially I wasn't really sold on any of it, but I am fan of fantastical action that includes Ben Kingsley.

PERSIA is about prince Dastan (Jake Gyllenhaal) who joins up with princess Tamina (Gemma Arterton) to defend against evil ruler, Nizam (Ben Kingsley). They must stop Nizam from unleashing the Sands of Time, which allows whoever possesses them to reverse time and rule the world. Extra Tidbit: When I first saw stills for this movie, I thought Arterton was Monica Bellucci.

Watched the trailer, but had no sound, which is interesting just to get a feel for the look of the film. My first thought was that they hired a cinematographer from the SCI-FI channel movies. I'm not sure I want to go see this yet, since I've seen many great movies that suffer from poor trailers, and vice versa. I might see this in the dollar theater.. if I can still find one.

Looks like there're some pretty cool visuals. I'm always surprised when they turn something into a movie, how they manage to push the visuals to a higher level, something impressive... Well, not always (Tomb Fucking Raider, meh!)

looks like Indiana Jones meets the Scorpion King. BTW Jake Gyllenhaal's arabian accent is horrible!

Jerry Bruckheimers productions score big at the box-office so am guessing the same for this one.

However I'm not looking forward to this one.

could be next years iron man, meaning a really surprising entertaining action spectacle. i think this has surprised us all positively. also dig the homages to the game with a lot of juming around and climbing on bricked walls...

ps. just realised there'll be a new iron man as well same month next year. so maybe i withdraw that comparison until we get ourselves a peek at what that...

I felt the same way with the narration, I wasn't feeling it at all... it looks pretty badass though...

This doesn't look half as bad as I was expecting. Elements of Pirates infused with elements of Indiana Jones, and maybe some Tomb Raider? But probably better than the latter film. We shall see.

Looks fuckin' awesome. Kind of deviates a little too much from the video game, but maybe that's what the film needs. Gylenhaal really looks like he tried not to fuck it up - got crazy jacked and worked on the accent. And can't go wrong with Bruckheimer.

Definitely a worthy looking May blockbuster.

I'm impressed how much this looks like a video game. Not that I'm a gamer, but still. Sounds like it's got a pretty solid story and characters. But aside from saying photography and scenery looks beautiful, and Ben Kingsley is...well...Ben Kingsley, I guess, this could be worth something.

And with Bruckheimer and Disney on board, at least there should be a sizable budget. However, the same enthusiasm was given for Wolverine, and look how craptacular that ended being. So optimistic but cautious.

silly & mindblowing
looks more exiting than Indiana Jones & Mummies. Fantastic settings. I think Jake might have just the right crazy spark to make this interesting.

Another Bruckheimer CGI overkill. What a mess. Why not just throw the Pirates of the Caribbean in there too? Poor Ben Kingsley. Poor Alfred Molina.

...I end up being in two minds. Visuals look great, but a lot of the characters and dialog seem predictable and kinda cheesy.

It looks okay...way better than I expected. I was expecting a real piece of turd so maybe that's why I'm impress. But the trailer was waayyy too long.

That was REALLY unexpected! I was expecting something along the lines of Street Fighter Chun Li (I'm feelin sick) and Dragonball (puke)...But really, I played and loved the game, and this trailer was great. But I agree with Niki, the narration was cheesy and distractingly bad. But if they can polish up the graphics, this can be a very good movie. And Jake fits the Prince quite well, not perfect...

Hopefully this will take up where Pirates left off. Giving us a new environment to have these huge set-pieces. I think the effects need a little more polish, but it's looking fun!
