A Russian trailer might not be the best introduction to the Angelina Jolie espionage thriller SALT, but at least guns, car chases and juicy lips are part of the universal language.

It's not too difficult to decipher what's going on, especially if you're familiar with the set-up: Jolie is a CIA operative accused of being a Russian sleeper spy and sent on the run to prove her innocence. This exoneration clearly involves pistols, punches, costume changes and leaping on speeding vehicles.

The movie, which also features spellcheck-defiant actors Liev Schreiber and Chiwetel Ejiofor, comes from Jolie's BONE COLLECTOR director Phillip Noyce (who also handled Jack Ryan in PATRIOT GAMES and A CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER).

Yeah, I Can Totally See Why Cruise Pulled Out...
...it looks like culimation of all the different actions films he's done (Mission: Impossible series/Minority Report). Looks mediocre, but could be enjoyable for a run-of-the-mill actioner....

It was a good read
If anyone here has actually read the script they would know it's a pretty tight piece. I loved reading it, lots of twists and some cool scenes. But when it was rewritten for Jolie I became skeptical as to how it would work for a woman...I'm still undecided...

I haven't seen this much red in a long time. This movie looks boring, over the top and will not see it. Angelina isn't a good action star, not at all. Mr and Mrs. Smith wasn't entertaining b/c of the shoot out scenes, no, it was a comedy and sort of funny. SALT looks and sounds dumb.

I do like The Saint, I know...but we all have our guilty pleasures, I can't help that this on...

Very funny lol. As for the trailer, I thought it was okay. Jolie back to the hot tough chick running the action game. I'm gonna say I'm mildly interested, but we'll see. Agreed with the comments about Cruise pulling out.

PS - Totally agree with the Russian voice for Jolie, they clearly got the perfect Russian broad for the job.

looks terrible. Absolutely terrible, and i'm a fan of Noyce's Jack Ryan films.

Jolie does action like she's fucking, which isn't bad, obviously it sells tickets, it's just bland. I was captivated by her with Changling, she has talent, but this just looks like a mediocre, muddled mess.
