Super Cop Cox

Everybody's been so busy thinking who would be a great fit for Bilbo in Guillermo Del Toro's upcoming THE HOBBIT, seems we've all forgotten to suggest him who would be great as a dwarf. Thankfully the director himself has at least one good idea in mind for that.

According to Ain't it Cool News, casting procedures have begun for the movie's dwarfs, and the one name apparently on top of the list is the charismatic Brian Cox. The report can't confirm if it's wishful thinking or actually a lock, but either way they should do it soon - a bunch of incompetent cops are about to come for him.

The folks from Movie Cultists had the chance to chat it up with a few of the Broken Lizard guys where they said to be finishing up a third draft for SUPER TROOPERS 2, that financing has come through so production might be gearing up soon, and they heard from Brian Cox himself he had every intention of getting back in uniform. Providing it still fits...

So which sounds the coolest: Cox as a short-tempered axe wielder or as a fighting-Irish state trooper?

I gotta say, what THE FUCK is up with people who, A: Don't know who Brian Cox is, B: Automatically assume he's a nobody, or C: Can't use a fucking search engine or IMDB to do a little research?!?

Maybe Joblo should do an actor education or introduction column every week. Hell, I'd write it for them. Actors like Brian Cox, JT Walsh (RIP) and Chris Cooper (just to name a VERY sel...

I have seen Cox do well in so many different roles that I'm positive he would be an extraordinary dwarf, or gandalf, or the dragon, hell if he wants to he can do a good job with any role.

My favorite Cox role is still from The Long Kiss Goodnight. The line about the dog licking its asshole for 3 hours is priceless.

Brian Cox was Hannibal Lecter before Anthony Hopkins. He was the main bad guy in X-men 2. He was in Adaptation, Zodiac, The Ring and Red Eye.

joblo is a site for movie fans, and i dare say that any genuine fan of cinema knows who the fuck brian cox is.
Ignorance doesn't normally offend, but its how casually you assume that because a clown like you hasnt heard of him, he must be a nobody.

I think the movie RED made me realize how great of an actor he is, although I've always liked him in anything he does... so this news only excites me more about The Hobbit!

This is pretty cool news! I'd like to see this happen, and I had no idea they were making a super troopers 2. It was their best film (unless the new one beats it which I doubt) so it makes since meow!
