If you were wondering who the new Celine Dion is now that she's permanently camped out in Vegas, it turns out it's none other than British songstress extraordinaire, Leona Lewis, who has been deemed worthy by James Cameron to sing the theme for AVATAR.

The song is called “I See You (Theme from Avatar)” and will play over the closing credits. I’m not sure anyone can beat Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On” from TITANIC (the first song I ever learned how to play on the piano), but if anyone had a prayer, it’s the note-belting Lewis, the kind of over-the-top ballad singer you hardly ever see anymore in this day and age.

However, I have a distinct feeling that the love story between two blue aliens in AVATAR isn’t exactly going to replicate the heat of Jack and Rose, no matter how well James Cameron is able to render their veins and facial muscles. We’re slowly crawling out of the uncanny valley, but I don’t think we’re quite back to the surface yet.

Extra Tidbit: My favorite Lewis track: her cover of Snow Patrol’s "Run."

Great move
A song over the end credits that most people don't stay for isn't going to affect the film itself, but it will play over every music video show and promote the film to no end. Wise move.
Oh and 500mil with marketing and R+D is the same ballpark as spidey 3 and PotC3 so chill out.
This film looks amazing.

I know about it because I'm shockingly obsessed with video games. :) Kisses all around.

i wasn't aware this was going to be the kind of film that would have a diva solo. I was assuming it would be as redundant as a single accompanying Aliens (before they cut out "Let Her Go you Bitch" by Whitney Houston in the studio edit that is).

I'm scared about blu-love. I think some people may bite because they think they have to, wanting to believe CGI has reached that point. ...

I'm scared about blu-love. I think some people may bite because they think they have to, wanting to believe CGI has reached that point. I just hope the writing calls for it. And lets face it, not everyone was won over when Leonardo fucking DiCaprio and Kate fucking Winset played Cameron's love cards. Two of our generations finest. Who here thinks CGI blue giants have a chance?
