No Leagues for McG

20,00 Leagues Under Gotham...

The one calling himself McG might not be unanimously appreciated by movie fans, I was still kinda looking forward to his take on a Captain Nemo origins film. Looks like we'll never know if it would've been any good...

Variety brought forth confirmation from Disney that the studio is putting their 20,000 LEAGUES prequel on hold indefinitely -which pretty much means it's dead- while McG's peeps said the man on moving on to other projects on his plate.

The film had been in McG's hands since last January, with at one point strong rumours pointing to Will Smith for the starring role. Things were said to be on the fasttrack with former studio head Dick Cook, but with that one gone and the director's failure to maintain the Terminator franchise, the Mouse probably wants to cash in on surefire hits instead. Like THE TOOTH FAIRY...

Extra Tidbit: In the meantime though, Universal's making a BATTLESHIP movie. I would've thought Nemo more interesting than "Hit! Miss! Hey you cheated!" Go figure!

Ever notice how 2 of the most hated directors (Ratner & McG)in hollywood are former music video directors, which should prove they should stick to the 4 minute day job. Probably the only tow exceptions are David Fincher & Michael Bay. Ya I put those two names in the same sentence but im talking more quality about Fincher & success about Bay.

I am glad he left. I like T4, but I loathe every other of his movies, and consider them all to be utter crap.

Tony - How can you even be "kinda" looking forward to anything from this director?

He proved with Terminator Salvation that he's an incompetent filmmaker who lacks the ability to put together a cohesive story. He should be banned from Hollywood. The guy sucks at his job. Badly.

Any day that features a McG movie that's stopped from being made is a productive day.

I really want to see 20,000 leagues movie get made but I am glad McG is not going to make it. Not because I don't like his movies but because he wanted Will Smith as Captain. Nemo.

Huh?
"the man on moving on to other projects on his plate"

I think you mean "the man is moving on to other projects on his plate".

Why does everybody seem to Universally hate McG. I happened to like Terminator 4 and so did pretty much everyone else I know who saw it.

I hate McG, despite liking T4, because of his two craptastic Charlie's Angels movies and the full on boredom and stupid of high school football opus We Are Marshall. That's why i hate him. Although, I do not hate him as much as I did before I saw T4.

then i would suggest you expand your limited social circle lol
T4 was crap, about all I can say is that it was less muddled that transformers 2. the pacing was horrible, the "twist" with Marcus would have been incredibly predictable even if it hadnt been shown in previews (oh so he was executed and then hasnt aged at all.. yep. terminator), and a whole host of other problems, directly att...
