When we first heard that Kevin Smith was directing an R-rated action-comedy called A COUPLE OF DICKS, the first thing we thought was "Yeah, that'll get a title change."

No real surprise, then, that the Bruce Willis/Tracy Morgan buddy cop movie seems to be (at least temporarily) going by the tragically uninspired title A COUPLE OF COPS.

According to an early screening review over at AICN, that's the current free working title, which dumps the detective/dick double entendre (which, to be honest, many of today's moviegoers might not even get) in favor of generic blaaaaaah.

The good news? Apparently the flick (about cops on the trail of a stolen baseball card) is some funny shit. And it features Rashida Jones in lingerie. Read more HERE.

Extra Tidbit: The slang term "dick" for detective was in use for years before the comic strip "Dick Tracy" premiered.

Strange and just yesterday I was watching Rashida on Boston Public, great show that couldn't get to 100 only 81. Nice she's having a good run.

Kevin Smith directing an action movie? I'll believe that when I see it. The man has said on frequent occasions that he can't direct action scenes. It was the reason he dropped out of the GREEN HORNET project. Smith is becoming the Joe Liberman of film directors: he can't keep his oeuvre straight.
