When I heard there was a new poster out for AVATAR. my first thought was "I really hope it's not a giant head."

Well, I got my wish, sort of. The poster is in fact, two halves of two giant heads, which added together, I suppose, equal one giant head. But also present is some fine Pandora scenery mixed with a little human military presence, and I'd say it's the best poster I've seen for the film to this point. Check it out below.

Extra Tidbit: Worthington looks more CGI'd than the Na'vi.

Dude, you people are so fucking jaded.
This is a pretty awesome poster.
And the floating heads of human jake, and na'vi Neytiri do a great job of showing how photo-real she looks.
the scenery is also stunning.

Wow. Just wow. What a shitty poster. Is Cameron still in the 90's? He is not impressing me at all with anything that has to do with this film except for the cast. The cast is awesome but I think Cameron made the mistake of hyping this up the way he did. Going around telling everyone that you have the newest and revolutionizing technology raises expectations and skepticism. Maybe if he didn't go...

Going around telling everyone that you have the newest and revolutionizing technology raises expectations and skepticism. Maybe if he didn't go around touting that this film will revolutionize film I would be looking at it in a more positive way. If he kept his mouth shut I would probably be thinking the special effects were pretty good and the story to be intriguing, but instead I'm comparing the film to what he said and now my expectations have been lowered and my skepticism increasing.
By the way, isn't this coming out in less than a month? Where the hell is the publicity for it? I saw more advertisements for Pelham 123 than this movie.

The advertising campaign is absolute shit, the public response is negative (especially from those who attended the laughably underwhelming "Avatar Day," a terrible idea, btw), and both the design and story are cliche-ridden and messy. The only thing keeping me interested is the fact that it's a James Cameron movie. The industry and the press thought Terminator and T2 would fail, and they didn't...

They thought Titanic would fail, and it didn't. Cameron is still a good director and MIGHT (I say this with great hesitation) be able to pull it off. I'll still be there on opening weekend for one of two reasons: To see it fail, or to see it blow everyone away.

Everything I've seen from this movie that's supposed to be groundbreaking just looks kind of silly..

I don't wanna say it but fuck it, I will. It's now James Cameron's turn to pull a George Lucas. Most of the dialogue from the trailers has sounded forced and cliche'd. Especially this so called love story that's supposed to be the center of the movie. Since I'm guessing most people won't buy into it the rest of the 2 hours or so will be lost. This will flop, be cheesy, try to sell 100's of toys but fail and nothing groundbreaking will come from it. There's a forbidden love that will rule over all, we'll probably see some sort of sacrifice from one of the main characters, the war-obsessed sergeant who loses his mind for the mission at hand and fails to see the slavery he's committing; since he doesn't see the nav'i as equal to humans. Shit I could go on and on.. and all I saw was the same trailer you all did.

And it's a fucking sad thing.. cause I've been defending this movie to the bitter end, but the more and more I see the less I enjoy it and the more I get that feeling in my gut that this will be an epic failure.

Of course.. there's a huge chance I could be all wrong and I'll gladly eat my words. I mean.. how can I judge a movie like this by a 3 minute trailer?

I really don't know what to think about this movie, but my god has the advertising been bad. I mean at least you think fox would try to advertise very early for something like this, though they didn't. The advertising was A LOT better with the best scifi of the year so far, district 9. They have been putting out ads since 2008 comic con.

My own disinterest aside...
I'm starting to feel this could flop. I keep bringing up this movie with friends and acquaintances, and aside from Internet fanboys, nobody's even heard of Avatar.

Even a 3 hour episode of the smurfs directed by James Cameron would be worth watching. It really would.

if theyre not trying to portray this movie as a 3-hour episode of The Smurfs (which south park already pointed out), then this poster doesnt do that cause any justice.

this movie still looks like battlefield earth 2 to me.
