Another Spidey rumor

His Spider "sense" is tingling...

I'm about to officially christen this week the Spidey 4 Rumor Week, 'cause here comes another one, courtesy of Nikki Finke's Deadline Hollywood.

The movie blogger/gossiper says she's heard from a number of sources that the peeps behind SPIDER-MAN 4 have approached one more actress to star in the film, but for what role we know not. The lady in question is one Anne Hathaway. Let's digest that for a moment.

Ok, moment's over. Finke's report says whatever the role is, it's definitely NOT Mary Jane who so far isn't looking like it'll be re-cast. Doubtful that she'd be asked to play a third-string character like Jameson's secretary, so... Black Cat? What do you guys think, Julia Stiles or Anne Hathaway? Or my choice - Elisha Cuthbert?...

Extra Tidbit: Will Elizabeth Banks will be back? She's not a mega-star but still she probably costs a bit more now than when she did the first Spidey...

This Spiderman really needed to be a reboot creatively. Start from fresh. Personally I thought the third one wasn't that much worse than the other two overall. First one being the best, the second one being very boring except when Doc Ock is on screen. Kirsten Dunst has been useless since the second one. She was hot in the first one right?

And Tobey Maguire? Great casting, but he...

And Tobey Maguire? Great casting, but he just seems too much like a whiny kid. Always crying and whining, and if the last two films were anything to go by I'm sure he's going to have a Spidey-Hankey with him just in case he breaks out while swinging over New York.

But the biggest change that should have come...Sam Raimi. Great director, love his stuff. But we need a fresh look at Spidey. The film is going to look the same as the rest and after three of them we really need a change. Also he really needs to be doing something else with his considerable talent...ten years (or more) of your life to essentially making the same movie? Come on.

...that being said, I'll probably be in the cinema watching this anyway.

Damn with a pic like that, you know spidey is in for a little action. Its too bad oompa loompa hathaway is gonna be in the next spiderman movie. That will take it down a couple notches.

This seems like a good choice. I don't know anything about Black Cat, but I like Anne. I'm watching Passengers right now. Pretty good movie!

well elizabeth banks did say that she did not want to return to the role. I think Anne Hathaway is the best choice for Black Cat so far, but there are other women it could be. Gwen stacy(if shes in it and Bryce dallas howard dosent return) Bettie Brant(banks said she dosent want to return) and Conners wife ( but i think these casts are to young for that.) but if she is up for black cat def the ...

There won't be any Black Cat!
It's a support character at best and Raimi said he only wanted one villain. Plus, the character was never even mentionned as a possibility before the McAdams rumor, which was proven as bogus. I love Hathaway as much as anyone but I don't see which character she could play.

I actually think Hathaway would have fun with the role, and do it justice. It would be something different for her, but I think she could pull it off.

Didn't Elizabeth Banks do an interview shortly after Spiderman 3 came out in which she said she didn't want to come back for anymore Spiderman movies? I think that would be a shame, she was one of the only (if not THE only) female actress I liked in these movies.

And Anne Hathaway seems too innocent and timid to play Black Cat.

They always have a good cast and I am sure whoever they nab will be good. (Ok I hated Topher Grace in Spidey 3 but aside from that its been good)

If they can't afford Banks then they cannot afford Hathaway to play the role of Jameson's Secretary.
I think Hathaway is a good choice.

Who really cares?
The biggest disappointment in casting started with Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker...that idiot doesn`t look nor speak nor act like Peter Parker from comics or animated series at all...at this point, it doesn`t really matter who plays the other characters...

This is not the comics nor the animated series. And if you cannot grasp this, then never, ever watch anything ever based on anything at all. It's the same concept, different world. He's fine for the movies.

Anne Hathaway, way better choice than Julia Stiles or McAdams. Plus I think Hathaway has the rack to pull off Black Cat. Yes, the rack is one of Black Cat's most important character traits, it's not just the internet being horndogs.
