While we continue to await evidence that Aussie actor Sam Worthington is qualified to wear the A-list label, he keeps working on more opportunities to prove it.

The impending blockbuster star (AVATAR, CLASH OF THE TITANS) is now attached to an adaptation of the upcomig Radical Comics series THE LAST DAYS OF AMERICAN CRIME. Worthington would presumably not be playing the character on the cover.

The book comes from prolific comic writer Rick Remender (FEAR AGENT, PUNISHER) and artist Greg Tocchini. The intriguing synopsis: "In the not-too-distant future as a final response to terrorism and crime, the U.S. government plans in secret to broadcast a signal making it impossible for anyone to knowingly commit unlawful acts. To keep this from the public, the government creates a distraction, installing a new currency system using digital charge cards.

Enter: Graham Brick. A career criminal never quite able to hit the big score, Graham intends to steal one of the charging stations, skip the country and live off unlimited funds for the rest of his life. But the media has leaked news of the anti-crime signal one week before it was to go live...and now Graham and his team have just a few days to turn the crime of the century into the last crime in American history."

Source: Variety

Extra Tidbit: Coincidentally, Worthington's replacement in the thriller THE TOURIST, Johnny Depp, is also attached to a Radical adaptation, the Excalibur-in-the-Old-West story CALIBER.

sounds like a pretty cheesey plot, but the overall story and the way it plays out will probably be awesome. sam worthington is totally a-list to me already. i actually loved terminator 4 and thought he was excellent and you just know that after he is in a james cameron movie he is going to be fucking huge.

This sounds pretty interesting. It looks like he's lined up to be in some big films. I guess time will tell

Sounds more twisted than Minority Report.

And while I still haven't sen Worthington in anything, I've been aware of him for some time as an Australian actor, who has worked with some A-list Aussie talent. A lot of actors just sort of "come out of nowhere" to be the Next Big Thing.

Very Interesting Premise
And that's one hell of a comic book cover. I'd pick that up. However, am I the only one that feels that this Worthington guy has come out of nowhere, to star in all these big budget flicks. I remember saying, who the hell is that next to Christian Bale in that T4 poster. I never saw this guy in anything before that gigantic role in that gigantic movie. Lucky guy.
