A while back it was reported that Kyle Ward would be writing the script for the upcoming film adaptation of UNCHARTED, the action-adventure game for the PS3. Well now Latino Review is reporting that Ward is out, due to contractual obligations to finish other projects like HITMAN 2. Because lord knows we’re all clamoring for HITMAN 2.

So who’s in? Allegedly that would be CONAN writing duo Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer will take over writing duties for UNCHARTED: DRAKE’S FORTUNE, and I have to admit, I am interested to see how one of the most cinematic games ever made will look being turned into an actual movie. Hopefully they’re able to do it justice, but as with any video game movie, the odds are stacked against it.

The plot of the film is officially as follows:

"Uncharted: Drake's Fortune" follows fortune hunter Nathan Drake, who is a descendant of explorer Sir Francis Drake. Believing he has learned the whereabouts of El Dorado, the fabled South American golden city, from a cursed golden statue, he embarks on a journey to find it. The search becomes competitive and dangerous when a rival hunter joins the fray and mutated creatures begin attacking those hoping to learn the treasure's true secrets.

El Dorado ain’t exactly a prime example of originality in adventure movies, but I’m looking forward to the UNCHARTED take on it nonetheless.

Yes there were mutated creatures in the game. They were the cursed Spaniards who were infected by the statue.

Got to agree with IQuitMrWhite, Nolan North would be excellent. I believe he said recently that he's going to start bulking up, so that he's a more suitable fit.

I think at the moment the front runner is apparently Hugh Jackman, who is brilliant, and would do a great job, don't get me wrong, but I'd rather having Nolan or Nathan Fillion.

Elena should be Emily Scott, her voice actor from the game, and I can't help but wonder what it would be like if Sully was played by Bruce Campbell.

Anyway, I really hope they don't screw this up. This is my favourite game series since Zelda on the N64.

The games are both phenomenal and I've said before that if done right, this could become the new Indiana Jones. There's not much to go by, but so far it sounds like they're sticking very closely to the first game's plot and there's no Uwe Boll in sight. So far so good.

Great news, now someone get on Bioshock already! Also, I love Nathan Fillion as much as the next guy, but has anyone ever seen Nolan North, the actor who voices Drake? He would actually be perfect for the role, and he has shown interest in auditioning for it. [link]

Nathan Drake is Nathan Fillion. And vice versa. And...they kind of spoilers the whole mutant creatures thing, because that was a pretty big shock in the game itself.

Okay, I'm gonna nerd-out real quick. There's two things wrong with that synopsis - one, Nate has no idea whether or not he's a descendant of Francis Drake, he just likes to think he is - and two, El Dorado isn't a golden city in the game, it's the statue itself.

This is my favorite game ever, and it's already so close to an action movie as it is. I'll be amazed if they can't mak...
