Breaking Dawn split?

Taking a page out of a vastly superior fantasy novel series-turned-blockbuster franchise, Summit may opt to split BREAKING DAWN, the final chapter of the TWILIGHT series, in half. This comes with the realization that A) It may be hard to turn an 800 page book into a coherent movie and B) It will make them approximately twice as much money by doing so.

This isn’t a done deal yet, as there are downsides, like having to pay everyone double for being in two movies, but I have to think that when all is said and done, they’ll greenlight the decisions as being more than cost effective.

There’s also the little problem of the absolute batshit insanity that populates the last book. I’m not one to bash TWILIGHT fans for their slavish devotion to the series, because as Kevin Smith says, it’s teenage girl STAR WARS, but when you actually hear just what happens in BREAKING DAWN, you have to think that the book might just be completely unfilmable.

I don’t need to go into detail here, because thankfully Devin Faraci over at CHUD has already done that for me. That piece is spoiler heavy to be sure, but read it and tell me there is a way to make this into a movie where everyone doesn’t run out of the theater laughing.

Update: What I said about not bashing fans no longer stands after I was just directed to MyLifeisTwilight. Good. God.

Source: Variety

Extra Tidbit: I can just see Taylor Lautner reading the script for BREAKING DAWN. “I fall in love with WHO? I’m out. You can call Ben Barnes.”

Believe me, this Breaking Dawn will not be the last book. Mark my word.

Ahahahaha! Aha! Aha! This one's for all of you who called Transformers 2 the worst movie ever! Take THAT! After Breaking Dawn gets made, Transformers 2 is going to look like a combination of quality from Titanic, The Dark Knight, and Lord Of The f'n Rings! Hey I'm no Transformers geek and I agree, TF2 is a load of crap in terms of story but compared to this....wow! What a load of garbage...sick...

Man, I agree with you. Accidentally watched Twilight on cable via flipping channels, I couldn't make any sense why it's so popular. From what I heard, New Moon is even worse than Twilight.

Pullin' a Harry Potter 7, eh?
Lmao @ David Cronenberg directing Breaking Dawn.

Wow, that summary was just plain balls-to-the-wall ridiculous.

I just finished the book the other day and yeah it is almost completely unfilmable. It almost has to be done as one super long film or as two to even capture all of the book. I'm stoked.

Wow so much hate for a chick fim franchise, so if this is the Star Wars for chick then let them have a taste of what it feel to be a fanboy or fangirl in they're case, besides it's only got two or three movies to go untill the next post Twilight phenomenon comes along, I ask you... how long was the Star Wars saga? how many times did we say The Dark Knight was the best film ever made? how crazy ...

I'm just saying.

The split of the film in to two films seems like the way to go for the producers if they want to keep milking the franchise ala Harry Potter but it probably won't be so costly if they film the entire film but release as two seperate ones in theaters.

Rizwan... I think X is comparing The dark knight/iron man to Twilight, as in the comic book movies are to fanboys as Twilight is to tweens and women. The Twilight series get shitty ratings on rottentomatoes because its mostly fanboys reviewing, not the movies core audience.

Umm, are you trying to compare Twilight series with The Dark Knight and Iron Man? Because its sure sound like that. I dont have any problem with it personally, heck I even own all four novels (though read only the first), But even by shear movie quality Twilight saga is AWFUL. Just look up on Rottentomatoes, TDK earned 94% and IronMan earned 93% positive CRITICAL review, whereas Twilight had 49...

These movies should never be on the same paragraph with the above two. Ever.

The only thing I got out of this article is that I can watch the lovely Ashley Greene be massively freaking hot for twice as long.

Everything else relating to the plot can be safely cut out. And hopefully incinerated as dangerous waste material.

Ugh...I was counting down the movies until I never had to hear about Twilight again. Now my countdown has gotten longer.

I caved in...
My girl asked me to see Twilight with her. It's what you would expect, which means no Oscar for this movie in ANY category. It was ok, I've see worse. (I need to do a sack check)

Oh God yes! please let this movie come out... just so the Twilight fans can see for themselves how BATSHITCRAZY Steph Meyers is! Breaking Dawn will make a Roger Corman movie look like an Alfred Hitchcock film! I hope they don't change a thing! (I seriously can't stop laughing:)

Edward is what, 100 year old ? And Bella, something like 16-17, maybe 18 ? This franchise has been about pedophilia from the beginning, the fourth one only makes sense, taking it further. Sounds like it could be amazing trash, but Id still not pay to see anything Twilight related.

WOW.. reading that description of the events in the fourth Twilight continues to baffle me as to how anyone with any kind of creative integrity could support or even like this series. Holy fucking shit that was the worst thing I've ever read!

Ha, an extra film is sure to drive the haters bat shit insane.

I'm sure Hollywood can find a way to produce something more coherent than the book. As for the fans, star wars fans have been getting freaking married as storm troopers for decades, so I think its more than even.

Yes Star Wars fans have been getting married in full costume but number 1: they still get made fun of and ridiculed. 2: At least Star Wars has had perhaps the most devestating effect on cinema, in history whereas Twilight is nothing more than a prolonged unoriginal sexual fantasy from Stephanie Meyers mind.

That's It...
...I've remained pretty in-different about this Twilight craze goin' on, but after reading that Breaking Dawn summary, I officially hate Stephanie Meyer and will take time out of my busy schedule to reticule and humiliate anyone I see carrying this book.

I mean...... What the fuckin' fuck?????

I am only a little over 100 pages into Breaking Dawn and so far it is just...brain melting. I enjoyed to a certain extent, the first three books. But Dawn may have zero appeal for the male audience. As for the extra tidbit, I hope they leave that out. It really creeps the shit out of me.
