Source: ColliderTAG Blog

300 Steve over at Collider spoke with 300 producers Mark Canton, Gianni Nunnari and Bernie Goldmann at the recent Saturn Awards and got them to reveal that not only are they working on a Blu-ray edition of the film but they're planning a sequel and/or prequel. How they plan to do that for a film based on an historic event is unknown but this is Hollywood, baby. They can sequelize the shit out of anything and, in fact, they've got Frank Miller busy working up a brand new CGI enhanced story. Read the rest of what they had to say, including who they've gotten to direct another 300 style-film, WAR OF GODS, over HERE.

In related news, someone over at the Animation Guild Blog recently revealed some news about a KUNG FU PANDA sequel and about a hand drawn addition to the original KUNG FU PANDA dvd. He says: "But down on the lower levels, artists are working. A story crew has started early work in Kung Fu Panda, the Sequel, even while animators are hand-drawing new material for the DVD of Kung Fu Panda, the original." Read more about it over HERE.

Extra Tidbit: As long as they bring back a half-naked Lena Headey, it's all good.

Perhaps do a story based upon the Spartan that led it's navy. If I remember my history channel correctly, was one of the primary reasons why the Persians were unable to sustain the war by cutting them off from any supplies. He even duped the Spartan political leaders into funding a navy when there wasn't a need for one at the time. Spectacular sea battles abound!

This seems like fodder for a lame SNL or...(gulp)...MadTV skit, not a REAL big-budget blockbuster.

But, if Hollywood's goin' to make a sequel to Donnie Darko, anything's free game.

In the immortal words of comic book guy: Worst. Sequel idea. EVER.

I'm totally up for seeing some 2d animated Kung fu Panda like the intro was. That was one of the best parts of the movie!

And to a 300 sequel/prequel. First off a sequel wouldnt be good because no Butler, who made 300 as awesome as it is. And for a prequel I don't think there would be any battle Leonidas was in that would be as interesting as the battle of the 300 was. So nay to both, but yay to Kung Fu Panda!

They might focus on David Wenham's character, Dilios, as the lead. Though that is if they make a sequel not a prequel....and that's a BIG if!

The Rock can lead as a Persian or some shit with the Spartans as a villian. I don't know this is gay either way I'm a Film major and the sequels and remakes are seriously just bullshit anymore.

Im all up for the 300 follow up especially if miller does the spartans as the enemies like he said he was thinking of doing. I think the fall of sparta would be a great way to go with it.

It would be interesting to see if they did make a sequel for 300 and didn't have Butler as the lead. Any thoughts on who it could focus on?

I enjoyed 300, but a spinoff sounds bad. Will they call it 600, and market it at twice as good as the original? No, it'll probably be worse than that joke.

I'm all for a Kung Fu Panda sequel. It was a well done movie that everyone can see. As for a "300" sequel, that sounds like a Bad idea. I'm not a fan of "300" and thought that it was just some dudes who liked "movies about gladiators" making a movie about gladiators. Too much of a sausage-fest for me. As a country, we need more fish in our diet and less meat! :-)

I wouldn't object to a 300-style film about the battle of Marathon, given that it's even mentioned in the film, but an actual sequel to the actual film? That would be horrid.

Come on now 300 was based on things that really happened. Now they are going to add more to the story? Thats just sad, next thing you know we'll see a civil war movie about ninja's that help the south win. This is painly just a stupid idea. 300 is a great film, one that would live on as its own movie for years to come. I hope this idea gets dropped faster then JLA.

I don't mind the sequel/prequel to 300. But Kung Fu panda? Can't Hollywood be anymore creative then to just make sequels of every movie that made the slightest bit of profit?
