We've gotten on Hollywood's case the past couple of years for all the remakes and it seems they've heard us loud and clear: no more remakes! Instead? Tons and tons of reboots!

According to Matt Damon, who was out walking the INVICTUS red carpet in London, a fourth BOURNE film is still "probably another five years away" so in the meanwhile, "there’ll probably be a prequel of some kind with another actor and another director." As Empire, who spoke to Damon, notes, it's possible he's just speculating on the future but I have a feeling he's basis this, at least on part, on something he's already heard. I don't think I need to mention aloud what a terrible idea it would be to try and do a BOURNE film without Damon or Paul Greengrass. While BOURNE IDENTITY was an okay film, it was really SUPREMACY and ULTIMATUM that kicked that franchise into high gear.

Damon went on to add, "If you have any ideas, call Universal...They’d love for you to get in touch!” So get your treatments ready people! I'm gonna let them know they should put in a call to Chris Pine and get Kathryn Bigelow to direct.

Reboot
I can't wait till they make that CGI cartoon "Reboot" into a movie. A year later they will decide to Reboot that movie - making a Reboot of "Reboot". Man I'm so sick of Reboots. Let's hope Bourne Business is a joke...

Annoying journalism
I find it really annoying when journalists give out their opinion as though it's the common belief. State your opinion if you want, but then note if it's an unusual opinion. That's what a good journalist would do. The vast majority of critics and fans say #2 had bad camera work and little emotion. 3 gets respect for resolving stuff. 1 is just the best directed, best paced, most interesting...

Get a fucking clue. The Bourne movies' Metacritic rating goes up each subsequent movie, and Ultimatum was rated highest at IMDb, and even made its Top 250. So take YOUR unusual opinion and shove it. Duh.

really?
IDENTITY was easily the best of the 3. After Marie dies you loose the entire counter balance to BOurnes character and it turns in to nothing more then a revenge flick. Oh and shakey cam sucks balls :D

That's fine with me.
Doug Liman took an exciting novel and turned it into an incredible bore. Paul Greengrass took a concept and turned it into unwatchable emetic chaos. I would love to see "The Bourne Identity" done right... for a change. www.rainestorm.com

I bet he will be signed for another before years end, most likely about the time The Adjustment Bureau comes out.The director of this is current Bourne screenplay writer.

disagree
I think it is a terrible idea and i wouldnt waste my time seeing it either. I also disagree with your statement on the trilogy. They are all great movies but bourne identity will always stand out on its own. It didnt need a sequal, it was a great movie and will always hold a slight edge to the others in my opinion, although the others are great as well.

Will a prequel show the origins of Bourne's personal shaky-cam?

At this point I'm ready to believe anything Hollywood does, and if there's a possible reboot it's not going to make a lick of Sense! Spider-Man, Batman, Superman, the Jack Ryan series, all of these franchises hit the proverbial crapper and NEEDED reboots. The BOURNE series did not. Part one was great, part two quite good, and part three was incredible. Shit I hope this is just Damon being...

Are the studios really this determined to ruin a great series, they do it with at least one film in every series, but at least Pirates is safe for now......Let Bourne be......

A prequel would be just another assassin flick...the video game should be the prequel enough for this franchise. 3 is enough.

What the hell? You can't reboot a series if it hasn't gone into the shitter yet?

A prequel with another actor and director would suck. Damon IS Bourne. Regarding the extra tidbit, I would hate to see Bourne turn into the new James Bond

It's totally possible, but since Jason Bourne isn't exactly Spider-Man, they probably know Damon's the reason people flock to see 'em. As for Greengrass, he's revolutionized action movies like the Wachowskis did with "The Matrix," but "The Bourne Identity" is still my favorite of the lot.

It's clear that he is being sarcastic. Bourne 4 will probably take a few years but there's no way they would "reboot" it in the interim.

I think he's just guessing on this one. A reboot on a series that is only a couple years old... sounds a bit impatient to me.
