New shots of Ralph Fiennes and Gerard Butler in Coriolanus
Here's a project we've heard practically nothing about so far. Ralph Fiennes is shooting a modern day remake of William Shakespeare's CORIOLANUS, and for his directorial debut, he’s recruited Gerard Butler, Vanessa Redgrave and Brian Cox to star alongside him.
The original play follows an exiled general's march on Rome, and as you can see from these photos from the set, Fiennes has thrust the film into present day, though how exactly the story conforms to the original remains to be seen. I can't really imagine a general serving in Iraq marching on Washington DC. I am kind of getting a Colonel Kurtz APOCALYPSE NOW kind of vibe though, which I like.
Most of these shots are of Fiennes or Butler, who looks more badass than he has recently, though I don’t think he’ll ever be 300 ripped again.

Extra Tidbit: Modern historians believe Coriolanus is more of a Roman tall tale than actual historical fact.
