Puss-in-Boots is go
It seems that crazy cat Puss-in-Boots from SHREK 2 (voiced by Antonio Banderas) was such a hit with the execs that they're giving him his own movie. In fact, DreamWorks has hired Ed Decter and John Strauss to pen the film. Don't whip out the balloons and candy just yet, though, as the movie may not be see a theatrical release. It seems the studio is thinking about a direct-to-video release for the fiesty feline. However, it is expected that Banderas would return for voice duties on the spin-off. The story is unknown at this point but I wouldn't be surprised to see Shrek or Donkey make a cameo as well as a side story involving a Puss-in-Pumps perhaps? Decter and Strauss have dabbled in family fare before as they wrote Disney's THE LIZZIE MAGUIRE MOVIE, THE SANTA CLAUSE 2 and are writing and producing THE JANE PLAN for Disney. This is, of course, in addition to the planned third and fourth SHREK installments that the studio is currently working on, which presumably would also feature Boots.
