Borat loses director
Perhaps you heard the news last week that Sacha Baron Cohen made an appearance in character as Borat from "Da Ali G Show" at a rodeo that ended in a near-riot after he mangled the "Star-Spangled Banner." That event was being filmed by for an upcoming feature mockumentary for Fox directed by Todd Phillips (OLD SCHOOL). The project was kept under wraps to provide the cast and crew an easier time of flying under the radar and catching people off-guard. But the heat from the rodeo incident may have been more than Phillips can handle. Variety is reporting that Phillips has abruptly left the production due to frequent "creative clashes" with star Cohen. Apparently the two had differences as to how the film should be shot from the get-go but proceeded anyhow. It's unclear if the Virginia rodeo incident exacerbated those differences but Phillips is now gone and the search for a new director is on. The only problem now is that the proverbial cat is out of the bag on the movie. Neither Phillips, Cohen or Fox would comment on the matter or even confirm the existence of the movie. Filming is expected to resume as quickly as possible once they find a suitable replacement.
